Best A-Rod article I've read. Article doesn't exactly make you sympathize with him. He just comes off as a petulant child with mental problems. It's sad that guys like Bonds and him are such douches, I want to have pride in the baseball greats that come from my era.

Expecting greatness from people that get paid obscene amounts of cash to hit/catch/throw balls for a living is a recipe for disappointment.

They are out there, but they don't get the same amount of coverage. Baseball greats of the long past are looked up as heros, but that's not necessarily the way they were perceived in their own time. Rose-colored glasses and all.

despite the playoff teams he's played on being good teams (Yankees and the 116-win Mariners) Actually, the 116 win season was the first without A-Rod. I will leave it to the reader to draw their own conclusions...

I will leave it to the reader to draw their own conclusions... I wasn't sure. But regardless (see, no irr!) they were good when with him. Then they were better without him. Then Brett Boone got the douchies and it all came crashing down.

Yeah, the whole 'aging veterans playing way above their heads' house of cards just blew the fuck up. They are rebuilding now, but still making clownshoes mistakes like trying to sneak the AAA strikeout leader through waivers to clear room on their 40 man roster. A roster that includes people like TJ Bohn, Joel Pineiro, Julio Mateo, Greg Dobbs.....AAAAAAARGGGGGHHGHGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH /swallows tongue

After finally reading that A-Rod article, he really is a douchebag. Extremely talented, but he sounds like he looks at the game the same way his agent (Scott Boras) does. It's all numbers 'cos that's what gets the individual a big contract. Fuck him. I hope the Cubs don't even answer Cashman's call.

A-Rod always seemed like a decent guy when they interviewed him, but that article certainly paints a different picture. Oh well.

Scott Boras is nothing more than excrement piled 6' high, and a disgusting excuse for a human being. The Astros owner and GM have actually openly stated that they no longer wish to do any business with him; no Boras client will wear a Houston uniform again.

Good for them. They should have locked that asshole out long ago. Boras is a cancer on baseball just like Drew Rosenhaus is on football. They are cankers on the already pimply-arse of sports.

May the Mets collapse continue with great haste. I agree. A Cards-Tigers series would be awesome. I take the Cards.

I have been so totally off this postseason (other than the Tigers beating the A's - I just expected the A's to not be a stepford team), that I'll go ahead and predict Tigers win the Series in a sweep.

The Cards didn't look good at all in that series on offense. They progressively scored less runs each game, and only barely pulled out a win in Game 7 because of the long ball. That won't hold up against the Detroit. St. Louis had 28 runs on 56 hits. They left over 50 men on base in the series. They weren't converting runners in scoring position well at all.
Let's face it, the Tigers are going to STEAMROLL them if they play like that.

*is beyond sick of hearing about how the Cardinals got lucky in the first two series and how the Tigers will destroy them*
Edit: Yes, I'm aware the Tigers are a better team. But it gets old when every single sportswriter in the country refuses to give the Cardinals any credit.

I really don't care who wins this series... but I do hope it's entertaining (the fact that the NL won't be swept for the first time since 2003 is nice).
All that matters to me is the overwhelming sense of joy I was given by watching Carlo$ Bel-tranny strike out looking to lose the NLCS. PRICELESS.

Agreed, I couldn't believe he watched the first one go by, but to go down looking? Wow. Glad to see the Cards take one in Detroit, hopefully they can win 2/3 in St. Louis. I can't belive the Tigers even made it this far, who would have thought?
