Anybody here have success in signing up for this? I have tried about 10 now and I keep getting this same bullshit: Dear xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Thank you for shopping at Newegg.com
We regret to inform you that your Newegg.com Preferred Account application could not be approved at this time.
There are multiple reasons why an application may be declined. To improve the likelihood your application will be approved, please make sure you have entered your information correctly into each of the requested fields. Your application cannot be processed with incomplete or inaccurate information.
We encourage you to try again if you feel this message was prompted in error. You will receive a confidential letter to your billing address within 7 days via US Mail with additional information.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
The Newegg.com Preferred Account is issued by Chase Bank USA, N.A. and is serviced by I4 Commerce P.O. Box 5018, Timonium, MD 21094. There's nothing wrong with my credit... the information I entered is all correct... so wtf newegg? Oh and I like the part about how I'll receive a confidential letter with additional info... does that mean I'm going to get a separate one for every time I've tried and failed to get approved? kthx.

I make practically nothing right now, and they accepted my app.

Guess I'll have to email them. I'm wanting to do some PC upgrade and not get hit with a $600 tab... I'd like to spread it out over a few months... wasn't expecting to get "rejected."

Call them up. I had a problem once with their automated ordering system due to entering information slightly differently to what must have been on the bank records. Never had a problem with any other on-line orders, just that one time with newegg.

One thing that used to screw with my credit checks or even online orders was the fact that I live in an apartment. Putting Apt. ### didn't work in some rare cases and they insisted I put (apt)100-25 Street St. I avoid places that do that now.

The best part of SWG was the easy account cancellation process.

NiX,
It's probably related to them using address as part of verifying your CC info. They only use then numeric portion of the street address and the zip code, so putting in 25 Whatever Apt 100, vs. Apt 100 - 25 Whatever St, gives 2 different numbers.
The CC processing companies charge less if you give them this stuff, so a lot more places are picky about it.

Well, it turns out that nobody at newegg can help people with this issue. I have to wait 2-4 weeks until I receive that "letter" in the mail from Chase bank or whomever it is. I'm pretty much pissed beyond belief right now.

You can either choose that, or choose to dither your payments over 6 months with zero interest. I want to upgrade my PC which would be about $600, but I can't pay it all at once -- but I could do ~$100\/month. I guess I could just buy 1 component per month and keep them in storage until I've bought it all.

I am having the same problem with NewEgg's preferred account application process. My credit score is very high and my annual household income is... well, lets just say it's not a problem. ;-)
I just checked my credit reports and all of them look perfect. I did not pay the extra money to find out my current credit score, but I've never been refused any application for credit ever. Recently I accepted a 0% for 1 year deal to pay for carpets in my house only because it makes good sense to keep my money earning 4+% and spread the payments out over a year. I thought that might show up as a problem since it was within the last month, but I don't see why.
Hmmm.... I wonder if they deny people who pay their bills within the allotted time and avoid any finance charges. I generally take advantage of 0% deals whenever they're offered and have always paid them off before the interest kicks in.
Well, enough angry rambling from me. Just wanted to chime in and say your not alone in the highly qualified people who got denied.
Here's some helpful contact info...
I talked to newegg customer service via their online chat and and they said: "Please call 888-609-0794, they will be able to assist you with the matter. That is the Preferred Account Customer Service line."
I called and all they did is tell me they could not help me and could not access any of my information. Not very useful for a frigging credit app customer service line!
They told me I would receive a letter within something like 4 - 6 weeks. Yeah right, I'm going to wait around for that. I asked to talk to a supervisor and told the guy that they just lost newegg a $2K order. The real amount is only about $1800, but I round up when I'm angry. ;-)
I looked at mwave.com which has been nice to me in the past, but they don't offer 6 month no interest financing, they only offer standard 17.99% financing.

It might not have anything to do with credit rating. Maybe they don't think you've purchased enough from them to get a deal, maybe you've purchased too much and they don't want to lose some money. Maybe they think you have RMA'd too much stuff. They might just not like the state you live in for some legal reason. Who knows.
