I can't do L3 missions yet but I desperately want to shoot things with my Tempest other than belt rats. I figure I will give a lowsec 5/10 Angel plex a try. It's not a plex our alliance claims AFAIK, so I'm fitting PvP mods. I had to make some compromises due to a lack of grid and CPU, notably the dual 425 and the thermic plating. AWU and Elec V would help, but I'm not there yet.

What cap charge do you recommend? I've never cap boosted before. I was thinking 800s and just never using them unless I got into trouble, since I can't carry around very many. I can almost sustain one rep with both nos going. With the booster and nos going I'd be able to sustain everything as long as I had charges.

The damage is low, but I have just one level of large proj turrets right now, and some gunnery skills I can take to iV relatively quickly. I could scrap some or all of the webifier drones and load combat drones to pump up the dps. My thought was the webifier drones will allow me to dictate range or actually hit a frig (with the webifier mod) as the situation warrants. I'm not fast with the AB on and I don't want to spend forever trying to chase after someone running away from me, or let close range BSs get within optimal.

I'm kinda worried about running out of ammo. Perhaps 1400s would be better, with no PvP mods and a willingness to flee at the first sign of trouble? I don't have any 1400s named or otherwise, unfortunately.

Named items I need: scouts, webifier, reps, booster. 2 more 650 scouts is easy, but 3 more won't fit without Elec V or a better named hardener. Mechanic V will not help until I get some 425 scouts or AWU. With 425 scouts I could get both the T2 reps and a thermic hardener on there, so that's kinda attractive. I need to look around for named 425s.

If your skills for PvP are that weak (not trying to be offensive, mine are not far off), you are better suited to not attempt to engage PvP whatsoever.  Gear for PvE, keep yourself aligned and at speed, and jump when anyone shows up on overview.  They will have their fittings down, they will have a few million sp over you in combat, and this will not have been their first go at it.

So I was implicitly assuming that the only people I encounter would be people trying to run the complex who were themselves fitted out for running the complex. It is tough to speculate when neither one of us has been there.

I guess I could drop the warp disruptor and multispec, get a thermal hardener and add a cap recharger or targeting computer, but it wouldn't change my fitting overmuch. I don't think I want a shield tank unless I'm arty. Guess I need to see if I can pick up some 1400s or 425s.

The good news is that the Gistum stuff won't drop from a 5/10 Angel Complex, so they're probably not farmed out the ying-yang!

I haven't done a 5/10 complex, but have been attacked twice in a 4/10 one.  That's not representative of course, and I have no idea what the area you're going to is like for that, but it can happen.

*shrugs*

Hm, 4/10s don't drop expensive faction loot either. Did they come for you right after you went in? If you get past the first room you're safe from pvp until the key respawns, right?

First one I came across in the final room.  Looked like he was waiting for the overseer to respawn, and I've no idea how long he'd been there.  The second time I was caught at the key drop, he warped in after I did.  I'd just finished killing the spawn but hadn't seen the key, and saw him lock.  Figured I was just leaving anyway.
