If you like the hitman series, go buy this. I am loving the hell out of it.

Demo here

Oh yeah, 360 version is $59, and the PC version is $39.

My roomie picked up the 360 version from work. I loved the first 3. There's something wrong with this one, I can't put my finger on it. I'll probably play through the whole thing this weekend though.

I spent like 8 hours playing it yesterday. I love it. Its my favorite one in the series so far. I like the locations they chose, also I love trying to finish each level with no one but the targets killed, and no gunshots fired. I am playing on Rooky (easy), and once im finished ill go through again on normal. For me Hitman is one of the only games I can replay over several times, just cause there are so many fun ways to take out a target.

Played through the demo. Took forever to download, and forever to install.

It was ok....not something I would run out and buy though. The movement killed it for me - I need mouselook. Maybe it was the demo, but it would seem like the game would give me tunnel vision, in that I wouldn't have the kind of freedom I wanted (ie - Deus Ex).

Mine has mouselook. Also you can press f1 and it will go to first person mode. I am a stickler for movement, and it was fine for me.

The review I read tells me they've put in an 'Accident Man' type of style now too.  You can arrange piano's to fall on people's heads and all sorts of 'My God, Fate is Cruel' type assasinations.

This may well be the game I've been waiting for.  I've been a HUGE fan of the Hitman series, even though they've had to constantly fight against a run and gun mentality.

I played through a bit of the demo, and the game seemed extremely linear.  Maybe it was just beacuse the demo is a tutorial for the game itself, but there really seemed to be only one path to take to get to the target, with the game telling you what to do at EVERY step of the way.  "Take out your gun," "put the gun in the crate," "pick up the crate," etc...

Does the game get more free-form past the tutorial?  I've never played the series before, but it seems to me that the appeal of it is that you can pick any number of ways to kill your target.  I'm not talking about "do I use my pistol or knife for this one?" but rather "do I take this route through the backdoor and sneak through the worker's area, or should I casually walk through the front door like I own the place," etc.

Seems to me like the game has a lot of potential, but they might have dumbed it down significantly as big game producers tend to do.  Ghost Recon 2 anyone?

The actual released version is bliss.  Sheer evil bliss.

You can kill the targets in as many different ways that you like.

In the 'Kill the WPP Mafia Snitch' Mission, I literally went from door to door in the wee leafy suburb, shooting everyone in the face.  There's nothing like being a lame camping faggot from a treehouse with a High Powered and Silenced Sniper Rifle.

That's just the tutorial. The very next mission is pretty freeform. It's also quite hard. I wrote a review about it on my site (see sig below). It's definitely not for everyone.

As I said on your site, the game just isn't for you H.

That second mission is easy as all hell.  Anyone who's played the other hitman games should have sailed through with Silent Assasin.  I know I did.

It took another couple of tries to bring the wine barrels down on his head tho.

My dad gave me one of those Hitman games for the xbox, not sure which one. I was supposed to sneak into some mansion. I could see several ways to do it. I tried that mission about 20 times before I even got inside and came to the same conclusion as the Haemmer: just ain't worth it.

Great idea, but underimplemented and way to picky. And it's not that I'm impatient, I play Thief to ghost the levels. It just felt like endless trial and error gameplay, with lots of abrupt stops as I got slaughtered. Not exactly a badass hitman feel, even a badass sneaky one.

edit:
Of course, trying to aim those goddamned guns with a stupid thumbstick didn't help at all.

You're bad at it. So is Haemish.

Despite striking similarities the triumvirate of sneakers are all entirely different games. I know lots of poeple that would like Splinter Cell but not Thief and maybe like Hitman but not Splinter Cell. They all play a thousand times different. I imagine Assassin's Creed will be a good melding of the 3 since it's very very obvious that's what they were going for with the footage, screenies and interviews they've released.

Sooo, did Hitman learned to jump?
I woudn't even dream about climbing.

Also, do you get issued with real ammo, or they still use paintball/asg?

47 climbs the fuck out of everything these days.

Doesn't jump tho.

Also, there's nothing like knocking an FBI agent unconcious with a pair of Ether soaked Teenage Girls Panties.

Really.

It was Hitman 2 btw.

I mentioned in the Summer Game thread that I played a little Chaos Theory last night. The most annoying part was that they drop you in without an sort of tutorial. Luckily I'd played the original, but it was so long ago I forgot any sort of special moves (found the duck-roll by mistake). I'm not good on sneaking up on guys yet, either. Too used to Thief.
