eBay: Video Game Development Team
Quote
Have you ever wanted to be in control of your own development studio?  Do you think you have the next big game idea?  Have you ever wanted to be the lead designer of your own video game project?  One lucky winner will get that chance.

You are bidding on:

One Award-Winning Video Game Development Team

For 90 days, you will have the services of a development team with over 60 combined years of experience, and 27 published titles.

Our award-winning game designer will help you flesh out your idea and turn it into a full professional game design including presentation and design documents.

Our award-winning artists will take your completed game design and create concept art for your characters, environment, and world.  From the concept art you approve, we will create full 3D character and object designs, including in-game and render quality models.

Our writers will help create a story treatment for your characters and environments.

Our engineering and audio design crew will work to bring all of these pieces to life.

Our producer will help schedule the team to accomplish the ultimate goal of delivering a playable demo, proof of concept, or machinima trailer.

Members on the team include:

Game Designer
Writer
Concept Artist
Texture and 2D Artist
3D Modeler
Audio Designer
Programmers
Producer

From the Q&A:
Quote
We need to keep the name of the studio confidential. As you are bidding on a development team this won't pose a problem. Games that have been developed by members of the team include: Dungeons and Dragons, DarkStalkers, Army Men: Sarges Heroes, Battletanx, The Red Baron, Tribes 2 and many more.

Oh hey it's GarageGames ("item" location gives it away). Hi Stephen!

Edit: fixed typo, GarageGames is one word

if I had $200,000, what would I do with a development team? Are we supposed to respond like this?

I don't know. I'd probably have them clean my house. And then have them play buggy software that's already released and yell at them and punch them in the neck. Doesn't say we have to make a game.

If they were MY development team for 90 days, we'd be knocking over liquor stores.

Make them unpack that box of games you are hoarding.

What the hell can anyone do in ninety days?  What the fuck, I'd have them make an X-COM knockoff.  With elves and ninjas for enemies.  You'd play as pirates.  Global map, tech trees (one elf, one ninja, one pirate), iso terrain, turn-based, destructible terrain (voxels!).  That would probably only take 89 days.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

Okay it might not be Garage Games. Here's another game company in Eugene Oregon:

http://www.tesseractiongames.com/tginfo.html

and their list of game credits better matches what is listed in the Q&A section of the eBay listing.

Tesseraction sounds familiar but ENIGMA does not.  Swiss cheese memory, someone call AL.

Interesting. Get your funding back on track by mailing out your developers for 90 days.

Almost brilliant.

90 days should be enough time to develop a demo/prototype which you could then shop around to the publishers, though.

I didn't catch this thread before, but no, it's not GarageGames.

FYI, there are actually 3 game development studios out here in Eugene, all derived from when Dynamix broke up. Tesseraction is one of them, and from what we've been able to tell are the ones that placed this advertisment/auction.

GarageGames has MORE than enough things to do and not nearly enough resources to do them with--in fact, we're actively hiring experienced developers, artists, marketing, sales, and support/education individuals, as well as looking for (unpaid, except for housing) interns, if anyone is interested!

I can't do any of those things, but I have some AWESOME ideas for a game.

Perhaps the 'Garage" part of GarageGames is more literal than expected.

Hehe.actually, it's a quite nice quad on campus--better than some of the apartments employees have ;)

And on the Garage part---in fact, our new offices (moving next month, we have 31 people squeezed into an area fit for 15 or so right now) has a 2,000 square foot warehouse, with a loading dock--so yes, there's more to Garage than a name!
