First off: http://www.jointopsthegame.com/default.asp

This is fairly new news. They released the demo a week ago (or somewhere around there.) It's pretty much BF1942 in a special ops type setting plus the server limit is 100 people. Provides for some tense/large games. The demo is only one map, but it can really give you a feel for the game. I'm grabbing the full version and seeing if it's any good or if I should trade it in for something else.

In the meantime, anyone want to play the demo?[/url]

That looks pretty sweet! Maybe it's the multiplayer element Far Cry should have had... ;)

It's quite nice, except the way you control choppers. I hated that in the Comanche series already.

Reminds me of Global Operations, and will probably have roughly the same amount of popularity.

Global Operations is to Counterstrike as Joint Operations is to Battlefield 1942?

No, this was well done. I don't know how far along the demo is, there are some things that could use changing. We'll see after I grab the full version (Doesn't release here until monday.)

Yes, I tried flying a chopper by myself to do some mortar attacks and I was pleasently surprised to find up didn't make it go up. I mashed every key until it magically went up. Then I just crashed it into people and was satisified :P

I expected some n00b controls option that was active, but then again, Novalogic never made a good helo sim, ever. Considering I'm a sky whore and can't stand these hippie controls, I probably won't get the full version. Gotta play some more on the ground to decide.

Is anyone else getting an error when they try to download the demo? I click the thing, it opens a new window that says there was an error processing this directive.

seems good, but they shoulda picked a better map, and i certainly hope that's not the best they can come up with. BF42 had some awesome maps, and put one of their best (wake) on the MP demo.
