Okay, both of these have been going on for months now, and I was hoping to figure them out myself without having to seek help... but I give up.
1) Monitor - I'll go in and set the screen size to exactly how I want it, and it just constantly keeps resetting itself to various sizes. Sometimes after reboots, sometimes in the middle of a session. Sometimes too small for my monitor, sometimes too big. I'll change it back, but within a few hours it always gets messed up again. It's a constant battle and I'm losing it. My monitor is a ViewSonic A90f+ and my video card is a Radeo 9800pro. I hope my description of the problem is comprehendable -- kind of a tricky issue to find the right words for.
2) Chassis - Every once in a while when I press the front power button to boot up my PC, the fans will all kick of for about 1/2 a second and then everything will shut off before it really gets a chance to start booting. If I try pressing the front power button again, nothing happens. Through experimentation, I discovered that if I flip the power switch off on the back of the chassis and leave it off for a few seconds, then turn it back on, then press the front power button again, it will boot up without any problems. Everything technically runs fine with the PC once it's booted up, thankfully. I have no idea how to try and diagnose this one. Power supply? Faulty connections in the case? I built 'er myself 2 years ago, and this problem didn't start until about 6 months ago.
Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi -- you're my only hope.

1. Flakey video card or maybe power supply (causing flakey video card).
2. Power supply.

Thanks... I really doubt it's the video card... Sounds like I need a new PSU, and hopefully that will solve both problems.

I had problem #1 and nothing I tried fixed it. I eventually formatted and rebuilt and it went away. About 6 months later my power supply completely crapped out on me. Put in the new power supply about 6 months ago and have had no issues at all.
It's definately possible the two are somehow related.

#1 defenetly could be your monitor going bad also. When it does this, does it sort of turn off for a split second then power back on, and the settings are all messed up? If so, that was happening to me on my old monitor. I bought a new one. Problem solved.
#2 is your power supply, like mentioned above. Get a new one.

No, it seems to be a very subtle little twitch that resets the screen size -- nothing dramatic like the monitor flickering off... so it sounds to me like it's GOT to be the power supply causing both issues. Being on somewhat of a tight budget these days, I think I'll go for this one.
