... don't catch a Grade A head cold the night before flying out to Vegas.

Nyquil and free booze don't mix. It really kinda spoils the fun of being in Vegas. Mind you, I probably played better cards since I wasn't drunk the whole weekend.

Up $260 after the first two nights, finished up $160. Played nothing but 2-4 when I did want to drink, and 1-5 NL when I didn't. Highlight was playing against this guy from Colorado who just wouldn't lay off of the Bertuzzi remarks. I think he was trying to get me to play sloppy and it sort of worked. He goes all in on a hand, and I call him - about $60 - holding ducks (pocket duces). Flopped a set of duces against his pocket tens. Then, about 15 minutes later, he's all in again. I had nothing, so I fold. Old man to my left has a huge stack and calls him. Flips over pocket duces with a big grin on his face. Mr. Colorado has A 10. Of course, the old man flops a set of duces and I almost fall out of my seat laughiing.

We did shake hands when I left the table though - you never take it personally when you play cards.

$160 wasn't exactly a huge payday, but it covered the expenses my per diem didn't, and really - I play poker for the fun of it anyways. When it feels like work I walk away.

Oh, and for anyone looking for a pleasant poker room down there - MGM Grand. Tons of tables, wait wasn't bad, lots and lots of tourists. Oh, and the massages at the table while you played - heaven.

Is it a non-smoking room?

Yes, it was non-smoking. Wouldn't have been in there otherwise.

I agree with this guy.

But back to topic at hand...Never been to Vegas, but planning on it next year.  I've gotten into pokerstars.net pretty heavy, and having a damn good time with that.

You can smoke all you want.  Outside.  Where small fires should be.

I hearby sentence Schild to go sit in a bingo hall for several hours. Noone should be subjected to the toxic hellhole that results from hundreds of smokers working over a room.

I played at the Wynn over super bowl weekend.  The room is very nice and the service is great.  The lines can get long though (then again every casino is packed to the gills over SB weekend).

I had an entertaining (in a sad, but not horrible way) hand though.

I was playing 5-10 (or thereabouts, can't remember exactly) no limit (I suxxor at NL, but that's not really relevant to the story).  I'm one off the button with 44.  Four limpers to me, I call.  SB calls and the big blind is turned around in his chair talking to his girlfriend.  The dealer tells him "your action" so he turns and tosses in a chip.  He meant it as a call because his dumbass didn't realize he was in the big blind.  But it (correctly) gets ruled a $5 raise.  Two guys call and then the third raises to $80.  So I have to fold.  The guy ends up with one caller.  The flop of course comes A K 4, 2 hearts, and they bet heavily.  The turn is another 4 (of hearts).  They both go all in.  I am of course crying on the inside at this point.  One guy had the flush, the other AK.  My quads sat in the muck, all because that asstard wasn't paying attention. cry  The players were (as you can see) generally awful though, so I was able to hold my own at NL and do very well playing limit, so I didn't feel too awful.

No smoking there, either (I haven't seen a smoking poker room in a long time, maybe in Tunica when I was there 3 or so years ago?).  They also have cool lighters at the Wynn gift shop, but the bastards at the airport confiscated it.

I am in sunny Sacramento California right now shitting and vomiting myself half to death with my dad. Good thing we caught the flu or food poisoning or whatever right when we got here instead of on the road.
