Cho turns to mom for Fox comedy scriptBy Andrew Wallenstein Thu Nov 3, 5:52 AM ET LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Fox Broadcasting Co. is developing a comedy script with comedienne Margaret Cho, who unhappily starred in the short-lived sitcom "All-American Girl" on ABC in 1994-95. The ethnic, multigenerational family comedy is said to involve a character based on Cho's mother that she has made a fixture of her stand-up routine. "I'm very excited about this project because, finally, I get to become my mother," said Cho, who would also executive produce with "Just Shoot Me" writer Susan Dickes. Cho describes the harrowing experience with "All-American Girl" in her concert film "I'm the One That I Want," alleging that ABC pressured her to lose so much weight that it triggered kidney failure. I liked All-American Girl well enough even though her standup is pretty bland. This might not be entirely horrible.

Margaret Cho is a better feminist than she is a comedian. I think she's funny, but I get a kick out of Korean culture (or its spot in American culture, anyway). That said, Shockeye is right. Why the fuck can't Sarah Silverman get a show? Oh, that's right. She loves chinks.

Why can't Sarah Silverman get a deal? C'mon network people, stop doing dumb things. Forgive the necro, but, how about an indie movie with practically no distribution instead? Saw it last night. Amusing, although I'm not a fan of this new 'awkward humor' thing that seems to be going around. Still, money better spent than if I'd gone to see Aeon Flux or something. Disclaimer: gin. |

Best thing I've seen Sarah Silverman do is Way of the Gun. She's good at playing those kind of raving bitches that are so cocky you almost want to punch their lights out.....So you do it to their boyfriends instead.
She's even better than Rosie Perez.
