Due in large part to peer pressure, I find myself in possession of the first non-PC gaming machine I've owned since the original NES.
What should I do with it?

I own about 15 or so titles for the system, my favorites are: Advance Wars Counterstrike Lost in Blue Nanostray Phoenix Wright Trace Memory (though it was short...very short) Trauma Center
Actually, all of the games I've played on the DS are short. I've owned about 23 (but traded in 8 back when I traded in my DS the first time) and probably beat about 17 of them. None of them have taken longer than 7 hours to beat.

One of the Nintendogs titles (I have a Golden Retriever from Dachshund and Friends) - pet simulator, NOT A GAME. But a must-have nonetheless.
Another Code - Two Memories is a point and tap adventure, but with some very cool ways of utilizing the DS in its puzzles (like watching the reflection of one screen in the other to get a clue).
WarioWare Touched! for a ton of simple minigames.

I'm pretty pissed off I bought into the Nintendogs bullshit. Lost in Blue is as much a "lost on a desert island" simulator, and it's about 500x more fun. Another Code - Two Memories is a point and tap adventure, but with some very cool ways of utilizing the DS in its puzzles (like watching the reflection of one screen in the other to get a clue). Another Code came out? Sigh, I'll go pick it up later today. WarioWare Touched! for a ton of simple minigames. Having soundly trashed both WarioWare and Feel the Magic, I'd say buy FTM. Its sense of humor is more of teh fun.

Is that Electrobug thingy or whatever out? Is Animal Crossing out yet? I'd second Feel The Magic. It is oddly compelling. And will prolly be a cult fave worth $$ (like Rez) in the future.
And the Kirby game, despite its outward appearances of childishness, has gotten pretty good reviews.

Electroplankton and Animal Crossing are not out yet. Kirby is very short but very fun. It's more of an experiment than a game methinks. Hell, that's how most of the games are anyway. That may be why none of them are longer than a tv miniseries.

Another code is known as "Trace Memory." And I almost went to Gamestop in a complete state of Confusion. EVIL.

I got Nintendogs for the girlfriend and find it pretty enjoyable - in fact, most of what pushed me over the edge into getting a DS was the fact that I was playing with her new DS about as much as she was and I started to feel guilty.
Another Code/Trace Memory sounds neat, I'll keep an eye out for that one.
I played a little bit of Feel the Magic on a friend's DS and it didn't really grab me.
The other ones don't sound familiar at all - I'll have to go dig up some reviews.

It is a crime to not mention Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow in a DS topic. Fuck all that noise with the silly avant-garde titles.

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow isn't a DS game. It's a GBA game that will only fit in a DS cartridge sized slot.

No way it could've been done on the GBA. Period.

I just suddenly realized that I want more than anything for Nintendo to port Rampage World Tour to the DS.

Bah, buy Midway Arcade Treasures 2 on the PS2 like the rest of us. (But not the 3rd which largely consists of sucky racing games.) (Other arcade games on MAT2 in addition to Rampage World Tour: Mortal Combat II, Mortal Combat 3, Gauntlet II, SpyHunter II, Xybots, NARC, APB, Cyberball 2072, Timber, Total Carnage, Pit Fighter, Wizard of Wor, Xenophobe, Primal Rage, Arch Rivals, Kozmik Krooz'r, Championship Sprint, Hard Drivin' and Wacko.)

I've resisted buying a PS2 for this long. It's bad enough I have two DSes in the house. My new GeForce 6800GT is in the mail so I'll very shortly have a ton of new PC games that my system can suddenly handle. Get thee behind me, Satan!
