I'm so sick of this. Why the hell each time I try to connect to a server it starts to download all sort of CRAP. From images to .wavs and .mp3.

How the hell I can *play the game* without unloading on my HD all that shit that I do not want? I couldn't find a single option that allowed me to shut it down.

Don't connect to that server.  HL1 and UT have the same behavior - if you connect to a server that has special custom files (like a custom map, custom sounds, skins, et cetera), and they need to be on your client for you to see what everyone else is seeing, they'll be automatically downloaded to your client.

Solution: connect to a server that doesn't have any custom crap on it.  Or pick one server you like, download the crap once, and then you'll never have to do it again.

Heh, he also didn't mention that he still uses dialup.

Probably takes forever just to "disconnect" as well.  :-D

The only effective retaliation would be to provide some competition to their futuristic game delivery service.  Or stop using Steam.
