Jessica Simpson comes out with plus-size clothesNEW YORK (AP) -- She's got a killer body, but that's not stopping Jessica Simpson from reaching out to women who have a little more here and there. Simpson's come out with a new plus-size jean line for women. They're sold at Avenue stores. A spokeswoman says Simpson wants to reach out to all her fans, not just the skinny ones. She adds "Jessica recognizes that she has a very broad fan base" that includes "girls from 90 pounds all the way up to 300 pounds." The spokeswoman says Simpson was very much hands-on in creating the denim line from concept to design. |

While I believe that there should be weight/size restrictions on certain kinds of clothes ("spandex is a priviledge, not a right"), I also think the popular fashion industry is so fucked (case in point: mid-range to upscale clothing stores selling pre-ripped and paint-stained clothes) that they deserve whatever they get for an idea like this.
Don't even get me started on how the entire fashion industry seems to create eating disorders based on the body image they promote.
