Guys like Vai are what made me become a bass player.  I am not worthy.

Cool link!  Thanks!

Pshaw, he's not all that. Too art-faggy, bland, and overly technical for my taste. He's the kind of guitar player that makes me love playing the guitar the way I do, raw and not too clean.

I don't mind a couple minutes of a Vai or Satriani, but I can listen to Page or Johnny Winter all day long.

Yeah, plus he totally got beat out in a guitar competition with that Machio guy in Crossroad.  He sucks!

(Yes I probably got the actor's name wrong and the movie.)

Yeah, but it was Ry Cooder playing Macchio's guitar :)

But supposedly Vai himself was playing the non slide part at the end (I think that's what Arnold said in the Guitar Thread). So basically, it was Vai beating Vai. Heh.

Cooder still kicks his ass though.

Wasn't Cooder on Dukes of Hazard?  Was he the one playing the banjo at the pumping station?

Waylon did the voice-overs for the Dukes. "What are them Duke boys gonna do now?"

I admit I used to watch a lot of Dukes as a kid. Coo-coo-coo! Git 'em Flash!
