Chronic Logic made Gish. Chronic Logic decides a physics heavy platformer wasn't good enough and they go on to make one of the most styliistically and impressive game betas I've seen in a while. The game is called 'Golf?' Simply put, there's something about independent developers every once in a while that bitchsmacks around the corporate jacktards running the industry.

I <3 Innovation.

Let's get some games set up.

Oh and stuff incoming or sumthin.

Ok. It's golf. But it's not quite golf. I mean, it's something akin to golf. I can crash my cart. My caddy is an alcoholic floating tiny bodies jpg of what seemed like FDR (I had some flashing graphic driver issues - sigh). It needs trance music and customizable golfers. But this game is, no doubt the next evolution of Rez. Or something like that.

Oh and like Gish it needs to be on an Xbox. Badly.

It's definitely golf but it's not golf as we know it.  I don't like golf but I did like this game after I found my ball.  I played for nearly 10 minutes and won't play again but I still like it.  It's art and should be treasured.

How do you crash a caddy?

How do you even get in a caddy? I press "E" and it doesn't do anything. So far, it's exceptionally un-fun because I have to walk the entire course.

Also, what am I missing here? What's the "?" for? Seems like "Golf" to me. So far.

The golf cart is back by the hole. It is a carriage. It is very fast.

If you get into the golf cart by pressing "e" and your caddy is near by, it will get in also.

Oh and it might not be available on the first hole. I didn't notice until the second one.

The sky, it is awesome.

Edit: Oh, and don't fret. I'm pretty sure 99.9% of the people who play this title will only see it as golf, which is ok. They're going for niche. Or at least I hope so. There's  pop-culture commentary like an episode of Family Guy up in that motherfucker though.

Should I have made it clear that I meant in the design, execution and mechanics - in the actual pop art sense, or should I let you just play the game? I didn't actually mean that the Kool-Aid man busts through the side of the golf course or that a chicken falls out of the sky and fights your drunk caddie.

I know what you meant. I just don't see much being said. And speaking merely in superficial/visual terms, I kind of find it "ughh!"

I hate being a hater, but as a game, it's no Gish either.

I agree and disagree. I don't think it's aiming to be anything like Gish. But there's something to be said about making a farce of every single sports game out there while being a dead serious sports game.

Just played the 9 holes...was kinda fun.

Also, it seems a few holes, especially the 9th, have a "trick" to them....

And the carriage rocks.

And I just got back into playing the Infinity Engine games.

Never, Ever a bad thing.

I might be doing the same since I can now install every game I own on my new HDD without running out of space.

My computer died. I'm a non-gamer right now.

Ok, I pulled the xbox out of storage and played a lilbit of Xmen Legends. That's a fun game. But....fuck. I've got no pc and no budget to build one.

I need to avoid ledges and windows for a while...

Is this where I can step in and blame BF2/EA/DICE for destroying your computer? Ok, I will.

Shouldn't have bought that game man.

Thanks for the applause, I'm here for the rest of eternity.

It was only a matter of time until you said so, schild....may have been hasty, it's not dead yet. Working on it.

I installed this last night and gave it a shot.  It's probably the best golf game I've ever played, which isn't saying a whole lot since I don't really play golf games that often.  Still.  Worth the download.

I tire of the single player, and it doesn't look like they have any sort of server browser.  Rrr.  This seems like it'd be more fun with people.   :-(
