Interesting isn't it this focus on the casual gamer, e.g. older consumer with high disposable income and brandname/subbie complacency.

If they combine Operation Flashpoint and Severence: Blade of Darkness to create an online game, I'll try it out.

They also own The Realm, though not originally.  I used to have friends there, but I fear they've mostly left or died or sommat.  In any case, we all lost touch when we moved to the US.

Edit:  Actually, it looks like they don't own it anymore.  I suppose they gave it to some one who asked pretty please.  I can't imagine anyone would pay actual money for it.

Well the first time we tried it, it was a horrible failure.  But that won't happen this time!

I wonder if this means they are going to try Dragon Empires again.

I was getting emails about Dragon Empires for like 3 years. It seemed like they never made any progress.

I don't particularly like them "trying again."

DE was targeting us. I have no real insight, but my opinion is that it was canned because it got to big, and the market got too competitive with just-about-similars.

This new effort sounds more broad:
Quote from: The copy/pasted article Haemish
Under Solari, the division is preparing an online casual games portal as its first initiative to attract the mass-market online gamer. For the core online gaming audience, a series of publishing and operation deals for major MMO gaming products will be announced shortly.
Online casual games portal is more Shockwave/Yahoo Games than it is SOE/NC Soft. Lots of cash there. That market is bigger than MMORPGs in terms of players (though smaller in terms of revenue).

The "core" comments seem more about front cash for stuff already along in development, maybe Korean imports or those little games we keep seeing in South Hall Kentia.

I personally don't expect anything for the since-UO crowd from Codemasters :)
