SANTA CLARA, Calif., (April 25, 2005) – Leading video games developer and publisher Namco Hometek Inc. announced today "We Love Katamari(TM)," the sequel to 2004’s beloved cosmic clump-rolling game, "Katamari Damacy(TM)." "We Love Katamari," available exclusively for the PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system later this year, will feature the diminutive yet determined Prince, with an assortment of celestial cousins and the eccentric King of All Cosmos.
The King of All Cosmos grew to stardom after taking all of the Prince’s katamaris and replacing the stars. His fans knew no bounds and wished to see more katamaris fill the sky. The King of All Cosmos desired to appease all of their requests and recruited the Prince and his cousins to help. Now they are tasked with rolling up even more clumps, each larger and more different than the one before.
In "We Love Katamari," players will find themselves in various new locations around Earth as the Prince and his cousins roll up different katamaris according to the fans’ requests. "We Love Katamari" continues the series’ trademark graphical style and musical excellence with an original soundtrack and hundreds of brand new items including Koi fish, angels and famous Earthly landmarks to roll up. The Prince’s celestial rolling has no boundaries; as his katamari grows larger, he can roll up literally everything in his path – from underwater creatures to mountains and even the Eiffel Tower itself!
“'Katamari Damacy' was the break-out hit of 2004 garnering tremendous accolades while delivering an innovative yet intuitive style of play to gamers,” said Yoshi Niki, Business Unit Director at Namco Hometek Inc. “We are hard at work on the second installment of this landmark series that will deliver a new level of originality and style that will have gamers shouting, ‘We Love Katamari!’”
Players can also roll with a friend in the all-new two-player cooperative mode. With each player controlling part of the clump, they will have to devise new strategies and communicate their rolling intentions in a new level of katamari madness. Battle Mode has also returned to "We Love Katamari" in extended form with three size scopes for competitive rolling action. Yes, I just posted a press release. I looooooooove me some Katamari Damacy. I'll have some screenshots later, but I just want to say I'm sad they didn't go with the Japanenglish translation of "Everybody's Favorite Katamari Damacy." Unfortunately it doesn't look like they'll have much new except the Coop mode, which sounds uncontrollable in a way that only Katamari Damacy could achieve.

Yay yay YAY!!! Katamari Damacy is too short, I hear. I wouldn't know, because I only play it when I'm tore up and that isn't very often. And I tend to go back and play the same level until I get the uber-good score. But I LOVE me some Katamari too. What about multiplayer? Is that what you mean by co-op? That was the weakest link in the first one. Simply smacking the goodies off your boyfriend's Katamari to scoop them back up in an eensy-weensy arena was stifling. (Edit: never mind this paragraph, I had accidentally skimmed the tail of the article schild posted. Carry on.) I can feel it. I can feel the cosmos.... Edit: voodoolily having paying-attention difficulties today.

Pay no attention to the cow, tanooki, or little prince in the picture.
Yes, it's a giraffe.

There is a lot of scary going on in that pic. Is the guy in the middle holding a star sign or is that superimposed to cover up something? That cow is seconds away from being molested by the guy holding its tail. Is the guy with the "j" sign giving us the bird?
I'm still getting the game the week it comes out, but I want a differnt cover for the US, they scare me.

I love this cover. I love the japanese ICO cover. I love Japanese covers much more than the american shit.
Seriously. Cover designers in America still think it's 1988 and they have to fill up the whole fucking plane with closeups of faces and neon letters.
Douchebags.

Yes. Japanese weirdness 4tehwin. ALWAYS. Especially on a game that is obviously targeted at druggie nipponophiles. Douchebags indeed. Schild, why did you change to a different kitty avatar? Is there no new theme this week? I liked my little kiki but I thought it got mixed up every week. Also, you (guys) haven't updated the News Box.
