Which is a truly terrible game that didn't need to be.

I might throw in a few dollars, but I'm not jumping in at Hex levels again.

Kind of surprised to see you backing this considering it's not head to head. It's all "PvP", but you just set your defense deck, and the AI runs it for you.
Also, I wouldn't say 500$ is all that great. The perk that gives free packs every week gives packs that need to be gifted away. Obviously you can just gift them to an alt account and exploit the system that way, but that would probably be viewed as an exploit, so you run the risk of someone noticing and being willing to piss off their backers. And as for the other two 250$ tier perks, you get a unique hero/monster for a few months/year/whatnot, but eventually they'll release that to everyone, and then it's only the skin that's unique, so just cosmetic. And other than that 10% extra loot in attack and defense mode doesn't pack nearly the value that Hex's 250$ tiers did (or would, if they would ever get implemented).
I eventually reminded myself I was trying to be less insane about backing kickstarters (I seem to have backed 414 of them), and just tossed 90$ at it as a wait and see.

I was about to back this about a week ago, as it looks like something I would totally love. Then again, I am not really keen on playing games that require a constant money investment so I think I would make a mistake if I allowed myself to get involved in this. I really want it to succeed, and I want to play it, but I don't want to deal with the well known "just one more booster" syndrome which would so easily get a hold of me. Alas, I'll have to stay away... (as I did with Hex).
