Okay, so I started playing again and got my first person up to 90. I started doing dailies yesterday and haven't been able to get to more than half of them. Did they design these fucking things so that you need to fly to them or something?

I haven't played since Cata, but... don't endgame dailies usually require flight?

I don't remember. I haven't done them since WOTLK.

You have to fly out to some of the Mists locations to get dailies.

Some of the Tillers quests take you to what looks like a mountaintop in the North West that I can't find any way to get up too, and also some other faction's about dumping burning oil from the Dragon's Spine and manning turrets there. I also appear to be woefully undergeared for some of these, or else I'm supposed to be in a group. The alliance ghost mine near the Alliance landing in particular.

Also you *are* undergeared for the alliance landing. That was added in the 2nd content patch and was rough on characters without epics from the new raid tear. Those in leveling crap would probably be slaughtered.

At level 90 you can go to the timeless isle and just grab every lootable chest and gear up pretty fast, as well as tagging rare mobs. There's no reason to start anywhere else when gearing up right now.

This. There really isn't a reason to do the dailies other than the Tillers anymore. Unless you like the vanity rewards.

How does this actually work? I went there on suggestions from others and was basically stomped by elite mobs and the only chest was up high on inaccessible platforms. Seriously, I hit 90 on 2 characters and parked them because there's absolutely nothing to do for them except run around and die. At least there were heroics to run in WotLK and Cata, here I can't even qualify for them (all 3 or 4 that there are).

http://www.wowhead.com/news=219459/timeless-isle-guide-coins-achievements-maps-rares-and-moreRun around and listen for zone calls for named mobs. You'll learn fast where they spawn. Get a hit on the named mob and you'll get a chance for gear. I played maybe 2 hours total on the Isle with my hunter and got four pieces of loot for him as a fresh 90. I also got four pieces for my alts waiting for when, if ever, they hit 90. The trick is to get lucky being near a named kill while it's being zerged.

There are many many little Moss Covered Chests 'hidden' all over the place: around the bases of trees, inside stumps, etc. These have a chance to drop gear tokens. Each is a one-off, so grab them all and cross your fingers for an early gear boost. There are even guides online for the locations of them all, if you don't want to search.
The initial couple of quests on the isle are ridiculously easy - go talk to people, go eat some food, buy a book, go open one of the little chests. Some of these quests reward gear tokens to get you started.
As Lakov said, you only need to get a shot on one of the rare mobs to qualify for loot, so watch the chat for their locations and start rushing around like a headless chicken hoping you get a token hit on them. You may even find a pack of players doing the rounds, follow them for a bit and you're on your way to free purples. It only takes a couple of slots filled before some of the mob types (the cranes and oxen spring to mind) are trivial and you can knock out the daily for 20 kills with ease.
EDIT: Oops. Hawkbit types faster than me.

Install a mod called Handynotes and Handynotes_TimelessIsle_Chests.
It shows all the locations of chests, each chest can be picked up one time per character, and when you pick it up, it marks it off the map.

I meant to say this, too. Having only 4-5 pieces of that Isle gear took the edge off the Isle mobs and made the main island questlines actually boring to complete.

Protip: There is the top teir chest with a guaranteed epic drop in the fire yak area. After getting a scuttling shell(the shell will greatly reduce your aggro radius) off the lobsters you can attack one of the seagulls and get them to fly you up to the lake on the mountain. From that lake you can float or use a mount to jump down to a lower mountain with a tower on it, aim at the tower. From there you can easily drop down to the fire yak temple level. Equip your shell and run all the way to the opposite wall of the temple, there is a small hole on the wall on the left side(facing main gate) of the temple. Inside there is a little courtyard with a lot of mobs and the epic chest but your shell you can walk past them all and loot it.

Thanks everyone, the island is great. I bought a Water Walking potion and ran there last night. I died a ton last night, but about 10 minutes on the island an Albatross grabbed me and flew off. When it didn't drop me to my death I relaxed a bit and asked if I should be worried. I got told that it was a good thing and when he flew over a rock column with a chest to kill it. Since then I've spent this afternoon chest looting and coat-tailing my way to a bag full of purples. Most of them have come from the rare mob dog-piles. A lot of them are also duplicates or the wrong armor type, but it's all good since you can send them to other characters. The only pieces I need are shoulders, legs, and one ring and everything but but weapon will be replaced. Sadly, I'm still using the level level 420 (haha) crossbow I got my first day in Pandara. The gear has made a huge difference. A was mentioned previously I died a lot at first, but now have no problems at all (within reason). There are a lot of odd things to know about and keep track of when you first go there. For example eating the yellow cyrstal makes all the little green pixies turn red while you're in the middle of them. Also, those pine trees give you a 50% decrease in damage from fire where all the fire crap is. That made a huge difference. I wonder if the Island is some sort of Babies First Raid primer. " Look at all the great loot you can get, you just have to remember this, this and this!"
Anyway, thanks a bunch you guys.

If you have enough coins, and meet the rep requirement, buy the class appropriate weapon for your character off the coin vendor guy (unless you are doing LFR and would rather save the coins for something else.). All of the weapons are getting a retroactive iLevel upgrade by like 10 points or something with the next patch. A new weapon would be a HUGE boost to your characters survivability also.

You can get a quick guaranteed 450 blue weapon if you queue for the Arena of Annihilation scenario and pick up the quest in there. Not a huge boost but it will help to tide you over until you have one from the coin vendor or LFR. Ideally, you'll want to aim for getting one from LFR (they are 528, upgradable to 536) which will make a huge difference in the damage you can put out.

Planes? Shit, I'm terrified to get in my car now!

Also, as soon as you have the required iLvl (460? 480?) you can start queuing for LFR. The early ones which you'll be able to queue for are super-easy now, especially since there's so many well geared people running them for the legendary questline. You won't get much in the way of upgrades on Timeless Isle gear until you get to Throne of Thunder, but you might get weapons and trinkets.
All you need to do is keep an eye on raid chat for people shouting about any important mechanic, but there really aren't any at this point. Just bear in mind that LFR is auto-herding cats - you won't get rezzed if you die on the way to a boss, things will go very fast, and people are generally idiots and/or kids. Follow the herd, hit the things everyone else is hitting, get loot :)

This. There really isn't a reason to do the dailies other than the Tillers anymore. Unless you like the vanity rewards. Yep, although for some professions, you'll want rep with different factions. Golden Lotus: to exalted for mounts, to honored for Leatherworker (legarmor, patterns), Tailor (spellthreads) August Celestials: to exalted for mounts, to exalted for Tailor (28slot bags), revered for enchanter (bracer enchants), Anglers: to honored for pet, to revered for raft, to exalted for water-walking mount (doesn't work in bgs) Kirin Tor/Sunreaver Onslaught: to exalted for mount Klaxxi: to exalted for mount, blacksmith patterns Lorewalkers: to exalted for mount, archaeology rewards Operation: Shieldwall/Dominance Offensive: mounts Cloud Serpents: to exalted for mount Emperor Shaohao (Timeless): mount/pet/timeless stuff Shado Pan: to exalted for mounts, to revered for enchanters (weapon enchants) Shado Pan Assault: Throne of Thunder raid rep Tillers: sim farm stuff At 20g/each, dailies don't bother me much, especially now that I don't have to get rep on each character. Making achievements account wide was a very good decision.

Yeah, I'm still doing the dallies myself. I mine while I do them and between the two activities I'm making a lot of gold. I've got all but a couple of reps to at least revered, about half to exalted. Sadly I'm a vanity mount whore, my mount has to match my toon's skin and gear. Timeless Isle is a generally wonderful place, however I insist the stupid tigers go F themselves. My favorite "fun" loot item from there is a turtle shell that knocks other players off their mounts when you use it. The monkey chest cave has been very kind to me as well, I almost always break even coin-wise and usually have some timeless items and a Burden of Eternity when I leave.
