Nearly total (80-90%) solar eclipse today, which should be at maximum at about 6:30pm. Last chance to see an eclipse this big here for about 250 years. The LA times has a great page up with times and maps. Scare the locals with your predictive powers.

Yeah, today has been a wash for getting anything done outside here in Seattle. Wife took off for conferences in Palm Springs, she's sending pics of pools and 105 degree weather. I'm not happy with this arrangement.

I got a few shots here in the Bay Area, California. First, we were eating at a Subway when it started, and I grabbed two paper plates and made a pinhole camera outside....which caused all the teenage employess to run out and say, "OMG! What is that??? Is that the sun???". Jesus fucking Christ people, don't you pay fucking attention in Earth Sciences class??? I weep for humanity. Anyways, the first: The second was across the street, the light coming through the trees and falling on the side of the next building was pretty cool, as there were thousands of little eclipses through the shadows:

The NASA track said this ended somewhere in West Texas, so I didn't even go to look. Last one I remember viewing was 1977 or so... Found this compendium of photos earlier today, though. Some really nice ones in there, I must say.

Some great shots.
I figured it wouldn't reach us so I never bothered. I probably too busy grousing about work to notice the time anyways.
