So, which one of you assholes made a character named Nlghtelf and bothered me to the point of getting on my /ignore list.  I refuse to believe something like that given my disposition could be a coincidence.

If not.. wow.. just wow.  The world works in mysterious ways.

Well I just hit L60 last night while doing Blackrock Depth.  It's a pretty fun instance.

Icecrown - 60 Mage main...

A couple of lowbie alts on other servers.  I am thinking about making a nice PVP server character.  What PVP server is the best for that sort of thing?  Sargeras?  Also, what class do you need?

Grats!

I really want to do BRD (and BRS), but despite there being more than a raid party of 60s among the Horde on ER now, everybody seems to spend their instance time in Scholomance. Very mage-centric.

I'd like to get the black dragonscale patterns. And I need to tame the OMGWTFPWNED 1.0s attack speed spider and the Bite 8 worg.

I did BRD once, I can't say I liked it much.  I think the problem is the people running it had no clue what they were doing and ran us down the wrong corridor.  We possibly could have done some of the more fun meatier stuff instead of the boring as hell Iron Highway down to the mob that no one needed to kill.  Plus we didn't have a rogue with us, so I wouldn't feel like an asshole rolling for the bad ass dagger that drops.

And it took so LOOOOONG.  God, are there any 2 (3 max) hour instances out there anymore?  I want some quick and dirty stuff, not the long drawn out crap that the end game seems to enjoy providing us with currently.

Where have you put your Talent Points?  Fragility Really isnt that much of an issue for mages.  Unless you are doing some seriously bad solo pulling, whatever you are attacking should pretty much be dead before it gets to you.

Funny you should ask- I just respecced my talent points a couple of days ago, and things are much better. I  folllowed some dubious advice from the WoW boards and had specced myself all Arcane. I now have about 1/2 fire and 1/2 arcane, which gives me extra range on fireball and a stun chance as well. I am also learning to use blink to my advantage.

I still go down in a big fat hurry if there is an overpull, but them's the breaks.

Edit- fixed a typo.

As to mage talents, myself I went Arcane/Fire.  About 31 points arcane and 20 fire.  Adds a few nice crit chances and DoTs to my fire spells, while still giving me all the arcane points i need to max out the tree.  Don't know that much about Pvp since I haven't participated in it all that often, but it works perfectly fine for Pve.

That is probably about where I will end up as well- my mage is only 23rd level right now. I have the full 5 points in the fireball stun, 2 points in the fireball range enhancer, 5 points in Arcane missliles (to make them uninteriruptible), and a point in clearcasting.

Max out clearcasting and get evocation for sure.  There's nothing like a free mana bar every ten minutes...

Plenty of those patterns down there, we saw 2 dragonscale and 2 dark iron patterns -- no one could use them though, so it's AH bait.

That instance is really long.  We knew exactly where we were going and it still took us about 3 - 3 1/2 hours and 2 wipes.  Although, we did have the best group you can have:  Rogue, Mage, Priest, Warrior, Shaman.  And we were all pro.

Now that I hit 60, I'm going to be leveling my mage alt up more, he's currently 32 and I love him to pieces.  It's alot more exciting to play than a rogue, because you don't exactly have a get outta jail free card (vanish), and don't exactly get to choose your pvp fights.  Will be going 21 arcane/30 fire at the end, just getting my fire skills now.  Instant cast Pyroblast is too good to go without for pvp.

The group I went was Warrior, Druid, Shaman (me), Hunter, Priest.  No crowd control and the punching power of a wet noodle.  Still, we had an obscene amount of healing.  If more people were on the ball, we wouldn't have had a final wipe when we did (I only bought one ankh and where we died the second time, I wouldn't have been able to rez out of that anyhow).  The warrior never once brought out a shield and anytime he had trouble keeping aggro we were nearly fucked.   I must admit that I'm not the best group player or pvper, but I'm learning and at least I don't make the "OMG I KILLED THE RAID" mistakes that some of these people seem to make rather non chalantly.  This is when I was 58, I'll have to go back with a full group of 60's if I end up having a large window of time like that.   Problem is, neither myself nor my friends really like to play for that long consecutively doing one instance.

Last night, however,  was a good night, even if it started off badly.  A warrior we know and like to use on occasion wanted us to help his guild kill a dragon.  I'll maybe go into more of this on the blog if I ever get enough time to think out a decent entry, but most people in this game just don't have their shit together when it comes to fighting big, difficult mobs.  Trying to explain aggro control and healing strategies to these people was like trying to teach a brick wall to interpret the works of 19th century poets.   After that debacle (hey fuckheads, try to look up if the mob has a fucking loot table before asking us), we went off to kill the giant worm.  Now, killing this fucker with 3 people is no easy task.  Well, it might be easier if one of us was an actual tank or actual primary healer (shaman/shaman/mage).  So, me, a shaman, was main tanking something that was crit hitting me for 1k damage at a time.  We would have likely died when we got it to 10% (everyone mage had just bit it, friend's shaman was dieing), but a group of 5 trolls came along, grabbed aggro off me and we got the kill.   Fucking amazing.  That was the coolest thing that has ever happened to me in the game.  We exchanged pleasantries and were on our way.

Working more on my rogue now though lately.  I like unexpected versatility of the rogue (some interest shit you can do) and I'm a sucker for melee mayhem.   I just got cheap shot and I'm in love with that ability.  Plus, I love playing a twink.  Once I hit  45 I've got a Bloodrazor waiting for me that a friend picked up in Western Plaguelands.

And instant cast pyroblast is unfair to some... god, some mage just tore me apart the other day near Tauren Mills when I was fighting alliance. I swear, bitch must have dumped 3k damage into me in like less than 3 seconds.

It was fucking odd, I just got the standard "hi".   My response was "DIE OF LEPROSY".  Then I actually tried to ascertain which one of you it was.  My "no, really, who the fuck are you?" were met by "I come from Frostwolf".   Then I had a small conversation that had me cringing through most of it.

It dawned on me that I was dealing with someone who was either enjoying torturing me by playing the part of a fucking retarded goon or barely intelligent enough to wipe the dribble off their chin  Then I said something they responded with a full screen worth of "THANKS thanks thanks thanks...... ", and I just didn't care anymore about finding which one of you dickheads was abusing my fragile mind.

Strangest fucking thing that's happened to me in game in a long time.

"Upper" BRS is 2-3 hours.  It's not very long.  Of course, it's raid content, so you have to bring like 15 people minimum, plus to get a key for it you have to do "lower" BRS a bunch of times.
