A few posts were made about EYE in the 'what are you playing' thread, ~page 141.
I got it for $0 (friend got a 4-pack and gifted one to me), so the price was right. Main things that stood out for me: - decent graphics - good ambience, it's definitely cyberpunk - I lolled quite a bit at some shop textures ("Leet Haxxor Gaming Store", "Le Stab -- French Knives", etc) - insanity system is interesting as well - eh to ok gunplay (a bit better if you play with a friend, but the enemies are basically FPS bots with very fast respawns at times) - complex stat/skill/etc system, actually pretty good - research system is bug-ridden, but not a bad idea in concept - kind of pointless and random hacking minigame - hilarious difficulty swings (my favorite was the mission where you need to hold off a siege of various monsters for 3 min... your allies and turrets die in about 10 sec, so good luck!) - quite a few bugs (don't go into the secret door behind the grave in mission 2) - dialogues and other text range from forgettable to facepalm
Overall, it's janky as heck, but still fun... especially if you play with a friend. I'd wait for a patch, though.
edit: it's made by a very small indie French studio, and I'd say it's actually a pretty darn good game for the limited manpower they had

I'd also be interested to know what people think of this. I watched all the videos on steam but couldn't get a feel for it, other than I don't want to play those classes that have to spend half the time navigating menus. I really like the backgrounds and the way the levels look though. I'd also like to know why it's only 20 bucks.

Its 20$ because its made by 6 people. Very indi endeavor, but usually those are the ones that intrigue me personally.
Thanks for the info Zetor, do you know if the patch has happened yet from the last time you played?
How open world is it? I know it has a story, and side stories.

Patch's been announced, but not live yet. Understandable considering the team's size, etc. There's a central hub (the temple) and you take missions sequentially. The maps are usually pretty big (same scale as Deus Ex 1), and there are usually side quests you can do in there. Once you complete an area, you can return later from the hub to take 'sidequests' (that are usually just kill-x or go-to-y) to 'farm' xp/$/research items. fake edit: also mentioned in the post I linked, but stealth is kind of impossible without the cloak item. Once you 'aggro' enemies, they'll zero in on you no matter what. It's actually kind of jarring at times if you try to have a stand-off near a spawn point -- you'll eventually have a mob spawn behind you and go for a gank. On the higher difficulty levels, you die FAST. real edit: The weapons and abilities are actually pretty interesting. You get 'spells' that allow you to create a clone army of yourself (that you can command to guard/follow/etc), and you can also hack enemies' cyberware to get some rudimentary control over them and attack their friends.

You said a friend gifted you, how bad is it to have differing "levels" in this game. will a level 5 be WTFpawnd if rolling with a level 15?

I'm not sure, we just duoed at the same level... if there is level scaling, I haven't seen it in action.
When you're playing coop, you choose who is the "fate master" (or somesuch), and that person will basically be the one doing the conversations, picking missions, etc. If there is scaling, I think it may just scale off the level of that person...

The game is interesting in its potential but very unpolished so far. Playing it reminded me of games based on total conversions of Quake and Half Life in the way that game options use a clunky menu to make an effect just materialize without any of the fancy graphic bits that a more professional game possesses. Bad guys spawn out of thin air, corpses vanish, the dialogue sucks.
That being said, if you have twenty bucks and want to play an interesting indie game, it's not a bad use of the money.
