All Gothic games are 75% off, including the newest one, Arcania which is $12.50.

Any capsule reviews on which are worth bothering with? From memory the family is plagued with some fairly average titles (and bugs?) in the lineup.

4 is bad as well.  Gothic Universe Edition contains 1, 2 and 3 for 5.75 which seemed like a decent deal to me so I got it.

Sky loves the series, and 2 especially.

If you find yourself agreeing with him much, I'd give it a whirl.

Witcher's on sale as well.  So is NWN2 plat if that's your thing.

Gothic 2's graphics look passable.  I imagine the interface suffers a bit more.  Hoo boy, Arcania's review scores are absolutely dreadful.  Makes buying the entire pack less enticing.

Who am I kidding? I have no time for a bigger backlog of RPGs.  cry

2 with the Night of the Raven expansion was good. It's dated and as Ras mentions, the UI is atrocious. 3 is ok but it's kind of meh, they admitted they shot too high, tried to make the world too large and lost a lot of the character of the series (it's very mmo-like).

Put it this way: I have 2&3 from a previous steam sale. I could grab the revised 3 for $2.50 and 4 for 12.50 and I didn't. The revised 3 is kind of tempting, because I never finished it, and that price is solid for almost anything. But for 4 I'm waiting for the sub-$10 sale (7.50, please).

Verdict: get Risen on sale instead.

Kindly reminder: the developers of Gothic 1-3 did not make 4. They made Risen after losing the Gothic franchise. Also, the combat and early slow progression can get frustrating on any of them. Do not be afraid to cheat a lilbit to get yourself going.

Some news on the now cut expansion for Gothic 4 on RPS today.  RPS in the introduction claims Gothic 4 as "picturesque but depressingly stupid RPG"  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?.

Needless to say I won't be picking up 4, I enjoyed Gothic 2 but 3 was a mess as well.

No Risen in Australia.

Heh, Steam Prices so you can see how much you are getting done for relative to US prices.
