Maybe my searchfu is weak. No thread here about Cortex Command? Surely this cannot be.

The Devs for this have been picking up the pace lately. The two head devs have apparently moved closer to each other to work on this project better.

Short overview:

2D Pixal Art platformer base building RTS action game? I really don't know how to describe this. Untill recently the "game" has basically been a sandbox. Build a base out of templates parts. Buy units and weapons. Hit play and endless waves of enemies come untill they blow up the brain of your base.
In recently builds they have started expanded on things. Flushing out an backstory for the game. Added alot more units and parts. Updated the engine they are using to support LUA script which can then be attached to anything to do all sorts of neato tricks.

Oh, and Niklas Jansson does all the artwork for the game. Which I think is pretty darn spiffy.

Anyone else playing or following the development of this?

I just tried it.  Art and ideas are great but the control are ass.  I would have preferred normal RTS control.

The controls are one of the odder parts of the game. But surprisingly you get used to them fairly quick.
I think the physics they have in place are a large contributing factor to the odd way it feels at first. The ground used to be alot softer in earlier builds even which made moving around pretty much impossible. Now the ground is a little harder so walking around is a little easier, but really, jetpacking is the way you move around in this game.

Alot of the mods in the forums right now aim at making controling things easier. Those rockets seen in the above video for instance are pretty much impossible to fly. They do make great explosions and hilarious moments tho. as the enemies use them for reinforcement and if you shot them as they land you can knock them over... then they try to fly back off and end up mowing over the guys they just landed  why so serious?
