Clarke's the closest thing to a hero we've had come out of the federal government at his level in almost two generations. Man we're hard up.

It has to be a fear mongering book simply because the guy that wrote it is a rep. Nobody said this except you. What I said was that Frist is a hypocrite for accusing Clarke of "profiteering" by publishing a book about America and terrorism when he himself did exactly that two years ago. Of course, it's possible, even likely that both men were motivated to write their respective books because they believed in what they were saying and they believed it was important for Americans to hear it. But Frist is still a mealy-mouthed, partisan hypocrite for attacking Clarke on that front. Frist has called for Clarke to "renounce any plan to personally profit from this book." Where did the proceeds from Frist's book go?

Clarke's the closest thing to a hero we've had come out of the federal government at his level in almost two generations. Man we're hard up. You're goddamned right. Attacks like the ones made on Clarke are just one of the reasons young people aren't going into public service. I mean, if a guy who's toiled his ass off for 30 years in government service gets the RAM treatment just for saying he disagrees with the administration's urgency on terrorism, why the fuck bother doing anything for the government? Of course, talking to the mouth-breathing retards that inhabit most public service positions would probably do it if that wouldn't.
