You won't hear this most places, but I thought I'd give a shout out. On Monday, Will Eisner died. For those not in the know, Will Eisner was one of the greatest creators in the comics medium ever. His work started in the late 1930's with some super-hero stuff similar to Superman. He is best known for his long-running weekly newspaper insert series, The Spirit, which is still to this day better than at least half the comics shat out by any comic company anywhere. He practically invented the graphic novel format with 1978's A Contract with God, and continued doing incredible comic work with other graphic novels since then. He is the man for whom comics greatest awards, The Eisner Awards, are named. If a comic artist tells you he wasn't influneced in some way by Eisner, he's either lying or needs a punch in the mouth and about a week with the Collected Spirit books.

He will be sorely missed. For more details on his life's work, I direct you to Movie Poop Shoot's Comics 101 story

That's quite depressing. He was an inspiration to every young cartoonist. Period, agreed on your last point.

I met him.
Apart from being a legend, he was also a very kind person.
I'm happy I got the chance and grateful that not only did he live as long as he did, but he was also celebrated so he didn't die without knowing what he meant to fans and fellow artists.

I would like to discuss this more with you, but I'm not allowed to post in Politics anymore.
