Yes, you to can finally try that shitty game you never wanted to pay full price for.

It would appear that every single MMO on Steam is now available for 20% to 75% off.

Me, I'm going to finally try Age of Conan for 50% off  why so serious?

At 150% off I'd try it again, but not any less!
Also it's now 20-75% off, looks like Guild Wars is the one with the lesser discount.

Bleh, that was actually a typo on my part.  Meant 20%, don't know why I wrote 25%.  Updating first post.

I find it funny they are charging money for Eve on Steam, since you can download the client for free off their website, with a Trial period.  I guess the trial for the special "paid for" steam version is longer?

When I first looked at buying EVE a few years back, I ran a trial and instead of rolling into a $14.99 subscription they were making you buy the first payment at $19.99.  I assumed it was still like that.

Download and trial are free on steam or via ccp (but 21days steam, 14 days ccp). You then pay steam or ccp to upgrade to a non-trial account that has a 'free' month attached.

Because for the price of $10 total (since I know I'm not going to play longer than the free trial) I figured it might be fun to check the game out.  As I recall, people were gushing over the combat, which was suppose to be a bit more original than every other mmo out there.  And hey, MMO's are sorta like pokemon to me.  Got to play them all.

Yeah, I blew $10 on AoC as well. From how you've all been describing it, the destiny quest line for the first 10 or 20 levels sounds worth $10 for me alone, even if I never play beyond that.

None of these are worth the price they are charging.  Most of them aren't even worth the time it takes to install them on your computer.  Particularly Conan, once you've spent the requisite 5 hours to install/download all the updates.  Don't get fooled!  There is a child molester behind this candy.

Already finding that out  awesome, for real.  Finished downloading it finally, only to find I had another 4 GB worth of patchs to install.  OK.

They finally installed, game updates, tells me Conan is up to date, and leaves me with a big glowing play button.  Hit the play button, the startup screen restarts, goes through all the checks again, and tells me its up to date and leaves me with the play button.  Guess what keeps happening every time you press it?  Dug through the internet to try several fixs, none of them working.  Re-downloading the whole thing to re-install is out of the fucking question.

Welp, thats the last time I even think about sending Funcom any money.  Actually, just for this, the last time I ever send any money towards Norway at all   why so serious?.

I had the same problem, apparently a known problem through steam.  You have to locate the ConanPatcher file locally (on you machine), must likely in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\age of conan.

I have wanted to like Conan, as I am a huge Howard fan, but just can't put my finger on what I don't like about this game.

I'd say playing Conan for the Tortage experience is well worth 10 dollars.  You people seem to have short memories.  I don't think it's a stretch to say that most of us rather enjoyed that part of the game.  Also, the combat is interesting.  The graphics are noteworthy.  It's worth ten bucks just to experience first hand what this game could have been.

I'm dittoing Schild on this.  I considered Age of Conan well worth the purchase price just for the 1-40 experience.  That's where the content mostly ran out at launch for me, and I haven't been back to see how the holes got filled in yet.  I have no regrets for the time spent in that game though.

Why the hell would anyone spend $10 on a game that has a free trial?

That's a very interesting question, Tao. I guess the answer is, I don't do free trials. If I have nothing invested in the game, I find I can't be bothered getting into it. Strange by true.

Because the free trial is only 7 days, where as I'm getting a whole month (and you know, the whole game for the future if I want) for $10.  Meh, again, its cheep, and I have this wierd urge to expand my game collection on my steam account, leading me to jump at any of these deals.

And thank you very much Bandit!  That solved the issue.  I'm running around as a topless busty Priestess of Set as we speak.

Its to early to pass any judgment, but I'm probably going to have to make a combat char to really get a feel for how good their directional combat thingy is.  As it is, I'm just walking around and one shoting mobs with lighting bolts from a distance.

Are Rangers or Assassins any good?

I like Rangers, but you need someone else with you to distract enemies and really make them shine.  Assassins felt very squishy.

Dark Templars and Conquerers were my favorites.  I like armor and being able to take a few hits though.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

Herald of Xotli!  Magic plus melee!

It's a squishy melee caster class.  I enjoyed it quite a bit back when the game came out, and from what I vaguely remember from the updates, most of it's primary problems (both good and bad) got fixed.  It'll give you a feel for both how the melee and magic systems work though.  Same with Bear Shaman if you want a healer instead.

I have a dark templar and herald of xotli, like both of them a lot.  Assassins are quite good from what little I've played of them.  I've heard rangers are one of those classes that peak early.

I'm the same way.  Same reason I don't play betas.
