Last time I pick up a full-priced game - ever.  I bought Empire: Total War for full price only a couple of months ago it seems (Pre-order even). Now it is already on a 50% off sale.  I can't be the only one feeling this way, why would I buy another game at release if it is going to be 50% off in a couple of months?  I know you can't bank on it, as I have been waiting for Fallout 3 to go on sale for a while now, but for fuck sakes.

Empire: Total War - $24.99

Empire: Total War - Special Forces Edition $34.99

It seems this seems to be the better place for it, sorry for the redundancy.

Is it patched to enjoyable status now? And are the Special forces worth the 5 Euros more or is that just a rip-off?

Awesome, EVE and the Delve invasion has had me putting this off since launch.

Oh I agree, I love steam....and this is a pretty good deal.  Just frustrating when I just bought it for full price not too long ago it seems. Just encourages me to never buy right away.

Yeah, I'm not really sure if I'm ever going to buy a physical copy of a PC Game ever again.  Steam is just great for these weekend deals.

Though, somebody refresh me, will the game auto patch through steam when a patch is released, or do I need to do it manually?  I forgot (I know it does this for valve games, just not sure about the others).

Also, are there any good mods out for this yet?

Mostly autopatching. Sometimes you have to restart steam because auth servers get overloaded and the prog needs a kick in the jimmy.

Thanks for the heads up, I have been waiting on this game for quite a while.

You'd be paying $10 for extra units. Really, it's a terrible special edition.

Fuck it. I've got too many other versions of this thing for dirt cheap that I've still not gotten around to playing.

Having just done a Windows reinstall, Steam is fucking awesom for games. Being able to just d/l the Steam client and then get about a dozen games installed without having to go hunting for CDs or bothering switching them in and out is fucking great. I hope Valve never goes out of business, since that's the only downside I see.

This.

Also, someone needs to punch Steve Jobs in the face every day until iTunes does the same thing.
