I understand it uses SteamWorks for it's DRM, which is ok I guess, given the current alternatives. It's even reasonably-priced locally for a new release. So anyone tried the actual game yet?

I watched someone play for about 5 minutes. Something about trying to shoot invisible apparitions is sort of amusing.

I played fear plenty of times trying to get into it and I never could. It was fun but not fun enough or interesting enough to keep my attention. I have heard so much good stuff about it from friends that have played it though. I have it here at home too on the 360 but I just never have the inclination to give it another go.

I want to buy, and eventually will.  But if it's the typical 5-7 hrs of gameplay that has become standard, I'll wait until it's on a half price sale or something.

Are they going to be releasing a Fear 2 Combat? (Combat was the free multiplayer thing for FEAR).

Kicking people in the face was too much fun.

The roommate played it and beat it over a couple of days.  I'm guessing it was more than 7 hours, but you might still want to wait for that sale, Snake.

It was fun enough for me to stand behind and watch for a while, though kind of trippy with all the effects going on.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

If you recall how long it took them to release Combat, I'd suggest you not hold your breath.

Yeah, FEAR Combat was a freebie they let people have long after FEAR was more or less done.

I'm boycotting Monolith until they make another sequel to No One Lives Forever.  Seriously, one of the best shooters I've ever played, and they've completely abandoned the series in favor of beating crazy bums with wrenches and cheesy Ring-girl knockoffs?

How well did NOLF2 sell? How about Contract JACK?

I agree though. Devs should be kept in their little boxes, churning out annual iterations of the one series they do well.  why so serious?

The bear chase in Condemned 2 is simply the best chase scene since Call of Cthulhu, and that's saying a lot.

Fear 2 is Office Shooter: The Vengeance.

I know NOLF2 was awesome, though it may have undersold.

Jack was a flop.

Another problem with NOLF was that it was PC only.  I think if you move that series over to multiple platform SKU and it'll sell just fine.

The first game was later put out on the PS2, for what that's worth.

My main issue with NOLF was that I just wasn't very good at the stealth aspect of it. Never quite finished it, either. Which is why I never got around to properly starting NOLF2 or Jack, both of which are in the shelf behind me. I did try co-op NOLF2, but it was some weird kill-em-up rather than true campaign co-op.

I imagine Jack may have sold better if it were named a little better - ie linked a little more obviously to NOLF, since I never even heard of it till some place had it on liqudiate this stock super-discount and I happened to see NOLF mentioned on the box.

Fear 2 is Office Shooter: The Vengeance.

So how good it is depends on how much you like your job and co-workers?  awesome, for real

Playing through FEAR now, and it's a lot of hot cubicle action in between gushes of badly-designed-industrial-building.  I have heard good things about FEAR2 also, but I'm not so hard up for a shooter that I'm ready to pay full price on one.  Even one as cool as this.

I tried finding FEAR for PC at a couple EBStops with no luck and when I resorted to a swedish captain, I still couldn't find it. Alas, it's not meant to be.

Though from watching my roomie beat FEAR 2, the ending is AWESOME in all the wrong ways.

I have mostly finished this but really can't bring myself to complete it.  It is extremely repetitive and I like my FPSs with a little bit of RPG in them- like Bioshock.  This has none of that.  Instead, I find myself replaying Half Life 2 which is a much, much better game.
