Im working on reinstalling now, but WoW makes my computer power down instantly, randomly.

Before anyone asks, this is the only game that does it. I can play crysis warhead for 10 hours straight and no problems, same with every other game i have. Zero issues with any other game or software. Brand new 750 watt power supply dual rails, new processor cooler and every fan in my case has been double checked for cleanliness and directionality. With software to verify I am sure that I do not have a temperature problem......I mean its fricken WoW.

Any clues?

Turn off automatic restarts in, um, shit let me look.

OK, Control Panel, System, Advanced, Start up & Recovery -> System Failure section, uncheck Automatic Restart.

That might let you see the crash screen and give you some clues to what's causing it. I'd guess sound or graphics driver, but just a guess :)

Thats the crazy part, Ive done all that i get no error log, just a power down.

I would think any of my bleeding edge games would have a problem if it was drivers. I just redid my system and installed every new driver from the manufacturer websites. I can play COD4 for hours until i get tired without issues. Every other game works extremely well for as long as i want to play it. Shit i played fallout 3 for like 7 hours yesterday and no issues at all not even a blip in performance.

You have a temperature problem Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

Do you see any odd graphic glitches or a slowdown before the power down?

If you are absolutely positively sure it's not a temperature issue my first guess is your power supply is defective. If you have another one you can swap in, give it a try.

Ive ruled out the power supply on account that i can play a blu-ray movie in the backround, while listening to rhapsody, while playing CoD4 for more than 4 hours. So far today I have played the most intensive apps i have for more than 8 hours and not one time did my computer shut down. Load up wow, and within 5 minutes wow turns my computer off.

To ease your mind though I switched out the power supply this morning, and have been watching gpu and cpu temps all day, right where they should be and always are.

This is driving me insane. WoW shouldnt be able to power down my computer. Its the only peice of software that can create this error. Everything else is flawless.

Max Performance, Everything set to never shut down or go to idle modes.

Ive been doing alot of research, I think im not the only one experiencing this, just most of the people ive read about dont have the skills to self diagnose.

Just to narrow things down, Ive ran processor tests, Ive switched out to an identical new graphics card i had lying around. I build gaming rigs for some of my customers I have most of the parts in my computer lying around.

So far to fix this I've: Swapped the PSU,Ram,Graphics card, Re-installed windows vista ult 64bit with a fresh full format, Installed all the most current drivers from factory websites. Run Tested every app i have in combination with stressfull games. WoW is still producing the shut down error. It just kills the computer cold, no error message or anything.

Its gotto be some sort of hardware/driver issue with their most current patch. I just have that one in a million configuration.

One last thing i can do. And it would break my heart. I can switch to the 32 bit version of vista and see if that works.

I had a computer that used to do this.  Adjusting the memory frequency in the BIOS was the only way to fix it (knock it down a notch).
