Welllll... shit.

Looks like my old machine scratched up the BtS install disc. I won't be able to do anything until I can buy a replacement. Payday's Friday.

Okay, BtS re-bought (only $17!), patched, mods installed. I'll set the game up tomorrow. Er. "Later today," since its past 3AM.

I was going to suggest using this FFH map mod, but since MrHat drew the Malakim, it might hurt his start position.

So do we want to try .33c? Or still .32l?

I think .32 would be safer. The older version was mostly debugged, and FFH patches invalidate saved games ~50% of the time.

I put up all the 0.32 files on my FTP. You don't need the media files to play -- they're just wonder and intro movies.

I am thinking about skipping .33 completely - I forgot the even number rule with FFH.  Basically Kael does a new ruleset on the odd number, then refines it and comes up with the next even number as a stabler client.

Okay, game started.

Unless we're all okay with posting our emails here (and possibly attracting spam-bots), everyone will need to PM their email to the person who'll send turns to them.

We play in the following order:
1) Stormwaltz
2) Cheddar
3) MrHat
4) Slyfeind
5) Sky
6) GenVec
7) veredus

So Cheddar would PM me his email so I can send the turn to him. I'd PM veredus with my email so he can send it to me when it comes around again.

So...how's this work? We get the save file, put it in our save directory, then...build our civ with the aforementioned accelerated start?

Yes. You get the save file in the mail, and place it in your PBEM save directory. Load the game, load the save. You'll set your password and do your setup, and when you finish you'll take your first turn. When you're done, it will save the game in the PBEM folder for you to pass on to the next palyer.

Although I specified 3000 in the advanced set up, mine only had 400-500 to spend. It may be that setting it to the Classical Era deducted from that.

EDIT: Actually, given that error, would you like me to try setting up again, to see if I can actually get it to give us 3000 a piece?

Try rebuilding the game.  You have to select Classical start THEN input the money for advance start (otherwise it will default to 400ish).

I restarted, but the game capped the setup funds at ~2700, no matter how many times i tried.

The game is afoot!

I am supposed to work a 12 today, but will try and dip out early.  Worse case scenario: I get my turn done and mailed out by 10:30pm EST.

Paging MrHat - PM me your e-mail so I can get the file to you!

FFH is pretty good about versioning its install locations. The directories should be named something like "Fall From Heaven 2032" and "Fall From Heaven 2033" (I don't have Civ installed at work, or I'd give precise names). Just make sure you load the right version if you have multiple ones.

Just use the proper executable (the one in the 32 folder).

Getting ERRORS.  I think you need to mail the autosave file without renaming it?

Huh. I didn't rename it, or alter it in any way.

It told me in-game that it was autosaved. I exited and grabbed the only file in the PBEM directory (Vista path: Users\Chris\Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\Saves\PBEM\F13\)

I'm... clueless. I've emailed the autosave, but its name seems to indicate it was made before I started my setup.

There are 2 files that get saved - I did some testing and think I got it.  I will start the game and send the file to you.

Here is how it works; you take your turn, then when done it will save the file and tell you to send it to the next player.  Stormwaltz, try it out and see if it works.

Yeah, that's exactly what I did. I'll try it when I get home tonight.

Bizarre.

I get errors too. The save game can't be loaded.

I'll ask on the FFH board at CivFanatics tomorrow. Need sleep.

Posted on their tech board.

Just to be sure, everyone's patched to BtS 3.17, right? That's likely to be the first question I'm asked.
