Hopefully we'll get some more details on this recently announced game at E3.  For those who don't know the basic premise though, it's a PSN game with a top-down perspective where you're trying to lead people across the map to an exit point to escape zombies.  The interesting part is that they are using Google Earth to create the maps.

I was frothing at people last week about this, I am beyond stoked. If only for the Google Earth integration. The other bits are just icing.

Yea, if i could afford the big glowing table that it would take to play this then I would be a lil more excited. Unless it comes with a holographic projector that I can afford, I do not see the big deal.

It's not being played on a big glowing table. It's being played on a shitty old arcade cabinet. They took people to a restaurant in Japan and hooked it up to the only thing with a monitor capable of playing it ^_^.

When I get a bigger house, I need to track down one of those fuckers for an oversized and awkward coffee table.

A Hindu friend of mine told me that the excitable third dev was claiming to be The Last Guy. Whatever that means.

Some gameplay footage

What the heck are those things the crowds of people are running from?

This looks like total shit. Why are you guys excited about this?

Maybe it's that damn music they play on the website. So catchy! I'm still hoping this has something to do with zombie hordes, so I guess that's the main draw. I have a recurring survivor horror fantasy staring me, my titanium crowbar, damsels in distress, and hordes of zombies. I know all sorts of tactics for destroying zombies. Also, using Google maps as levels? C'mon, that's cool.

The google earth thing for levels is what appeals to me. A _lot_. For that alone I'm interested, but mostly, it's a step in the right direction - a tiny baby itty bitty step - for a zombie game. Google Earth is largely the ultimate way to go about that. Part of me wishes it was zoomed in a bit more and either like Smash TV or a top down brawler type thing.

Not quite sure what the big deal is.  Is all you do run around, collect as many people as you can and try and bring as many as you can to the safe zone?  Do you do anything else besides run around and evade monsters?

Also the google maps thing in underwhelming because it looks like it is just using 9 selected google maps images with predefined parameters.  It would mean something if the safe zones and such were random and you could import any city or 10x10 mile area to play in.

The US team working on this are claiming that the maps are not Google Maps, but rather ones they made themselves.  If that's true, that kinda puts a bummer on this.

oddly enough i really, really enjoyed this game.  enough that i was annoyed that i couldn't immediately buy the full version.  I do have to say that you can't sit too far from your TV.  With my 42" LCD i can't sit more than 7-10' before i keep losing my guy on the screen.
