"local boy makes good"

http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/business/20041019-9999-1b19mcquaid.html

Actually, the SD U-T business section may be running a string of articles featuring people and businesses involved in the gaming industry locally.  Yesterday featured an article generally on MMOs but focused on two local players (husband and wife) who are playing CoH.  It also got into SOE (hq'd in San Diego).

But today's article was informative to me; for one I had no idea Brad has been shadowing me for years.  We attended the same University at the same time, probably even crossed paths in the computer labs.  Glad to see one of our passions took off into a promising career anyways.

Unfortunately the web-paper archives these things after a single day and you have to be a U-T subscriber to gain access again.  If there's any interest at all I'll keep an eye out for the week to see if any other articles of interest come to light.

PS - note to self: see if Sigil has any job openings and lay the "old school" charm on it.

Neat.

As a 5 year player of EQ, I'm somewhat curious to see what McQuaid and Co. have to offer.  The comments and stuff I've read lead me to believe that they aren't going the 'hand-holding' route with their game that everyone else seems to be using, which means, to me, that it may be interesting enough to learn the systems, like EQ was.  WoW and EQ2 have both dumbed their systems down so much(from what I've read) everything is obvious from the get-go...  Blah.

Apparently the guy that runs MySpace knows McQuaid (went to school with him) and there is an article on the MySpace game section by him as well. Or at least there was last time I logged in there awhile ago.
