Have you tried the internet? It's made out of millions of people missing the point of everything and then getting angry about it

Probably time, but I am going to miss him. I won't miss the media constantly fellating him, however.

I will miss him a lot, but it's a good time for it. Aaron Rodgers did well in that Cowboys game last year, and I think the Pack will be in good hands.

Definitely going to miss seeing him play - he did great things with the Pack this year, but it most likely was time to hang it up.

Heh, yeah right. Pull the other one, it has bells on.
I imagine that 3 years from now he'll be back sitting on the bench as a second stringer in Carolina.

I hope this is permanent. I could really do with 100% less Brett Favre hero worship on my TV. The next few days on SportsCenter are going to be unbearable. Had fun watching him play last year, but media coverage of him really gets on my nerves.
PLEASE STAY RETIRED.

News reports say John Madden is inconsolable and has holed-up in his hotel room with a bathtub of Turduckens and a liter of scotch.

Good, it's about time. Discounting the last year, which nobody can take away from him, he has played like ass over the previous 3 years. He was almost to the level of achieving Emmitt Smith GTFO levels.

I don't think he played like ass per se... He just tried being old Favre too much. But last year, he finally found another way to be competitive.
It's good that he retired though, for his own health's sake... But I bet he has another year or two in him.

Does that mean he is going to go into a TV studio gig and launch a one man assault on the English language as we know it?

I'd take a bonobo monkey with tourette's, syphilis and good aim over John Madden any day.
So, I welcome Bret to the booth with open arms.
I think its more likely he will coach though, at some level - the man fucking loves football, not talking about football.

Heh. I was more taking a shot at Emmitt rather than Brett...he has coined some interesting 'neologisms' in his time as an analyst. Putting that ol UF education to good work.

I love my TV an' hug my TV an' call it 'George'.

Eh, I always enjoyed Favre. Too bad he couldn't go out with the ring, but whatever. He's had a good run.
My favorite english butcher is Shannon Sharpe. Though I'll take him in the studio over having fucking Siragusa yapping about penetration from the endzone all game long.

He goes out with more rings than Marino, at least. Fun Favre facts: First NFL pass attempt is intercepted and returned for a touchdown. First pass attempt as a Packer is a -7 yard completion to.. Brett Favre!

Out of the frying pan, into the fire.

Hope the Packers don't implode like my precious Broncos did after Elway left.

You know they will. They have no hope now.

You know they will. They have no hope now. Rogers has more experience than whoever was backing up Elway in 98 in Denver. The team knew that Brett might hang it up, even if they were not expecting it they planned for the possibility and gave Rogers a lot of reps with the first team offense in practice and he did do pretty well in the worst place to be a Packer in the NFL - Texas Stadium. As a Packer fan, I am in what can only be termed as a "malaise" at the moment. But I kinda saw this coming after the NFC championship game. He just did not look like he had anything left in the "mental toughness" tank at the end of that game. The Seattle game was probably the game that Cheeseheads will remember as his last hurrah. The offense was barely on the field in the Giants game anyway.

Favre looked cold in that game, which is magnified by age and injury, I'm sure.
If he was playing in Miami, he might squeeze out another year, but not in the frozen tundra.
