Moore was just 16 years old when he moved from Belfast to Dublin in 1969 to join Skid Row, which featured Phil Lynott as lead singer. I found this funny. Who knew Skid Row was so old?

The original Skid Row was founded by Gary Moore. He sold the name to Sebastian Bach's band in 1987 for $35k.

And for the idly curious and trivia collecting, the term 'Skid Row' comes from Seattle's Yesler Way which travels from the top of Capital Hill down to the docks and was used to 'skid' lumber down to the waiting boats.
Some people claim that its origin is from Vancouver BC, but they would be Canadians.

I should get back to nature, too. You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer. Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached. Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

Oddly, I've never actually heard it referenced specifically to Vancouver. Everyone just refers to "the downtown east side", which is far to large to just be a "row"

Watched a few live performance dvds of Thin Lizzy last night in his honor. Gary was a very underrated guitarist. Shame he and Phil are gone.

Reading the title I though Alan Moore finally snapped and went on a crime fighting spree resulting in his untimely demise.

My first thought was Roger Moore. I never realized that there would be other Thin Lizzy fans here.

Thin Lizzy was good, but I'm not a fan of his blues album.

Me either. To be honest, I'm pretty burned out on the blues. Too many people dabble in the blues that have no business attempting it.

Old school mostly... you know the list: Johnson, King, Waters, Wolf, Hooker, Walker, etc. I've moved to more melodic, listenable music lately.

I try to keep things mixed up. Right now my truck's 6 cd changer is running (iirc): Cantiga, Count Basie, Son House, King Curtis, Derek Trucks Band, Grateful Dead (had an urge to hear "Ripple" last night).

I love that someone else likes Count Basie. You don't run into that a lot.

I blew my buddy's mind when I was playing GTA4 while he was over and I turned to him and said (along with Basie) "One more time!" during April in Paris. The Dead CD (temporarily, I already got my Ripple fix) replaced Django/Grappelli, another staple in the cd changer.
