Ok so for EONS I've had no problems with cookies here.  Now and for the last three weeks, the first time I hit the site all is good but as soon as I fresh the index list or even backspace the new record icon is gone.

WTF?!  SP3?

Here's half a cookie. You get the other half when we find more people with this same problem so we can isolate it.

I had this problem from work. I just assumed something was going on w/ the network settings since it was a corporate environment.

I've posted about cookie problems on this site before.  Just delete all your old waterthread and f13 cookies and come back here and try again.

Maybe if this guy wasn't the site admin, you wouldn't have this problem...

Well for whatever reason it works again - I didn't even have a chance to zero out the cookies per Bruce's suggestion.

And yes, that gourmet cookie looks an awful lot like Saturday morning in the frat house.  Yuk...

Yep, something is screwy with the cookie factory here.  Sometimes I'll get logged out for no apparent reason, while reading threads (even though the cookie worked well enough to get me in without a log on to start with).  Other times I'll click a thread and it'll set all my new items to "has been read".  Sometimes it works fine for a few weeks, others I fight with it a couple times in the course of one session.

Me thinks the server goblins have too little to do.

I think it's the fact I'm reading from different machines throughout the day.  I don't have a problem if I kepp the browser window open.

Try adding f13.net to your trusted sites in IE, I promise we won't bite.

Weird. I've been logged in just fine for about a year now but this morning I had to log in again and then do the trusted site thing before it would stick.

Maybe it's time to upgrade to 2.0.10, we are .04 releases behind (oh no).  Anyone else have this problem? I noticed cookies acting a little wierd on this computer at work, but I though it was just our system because I started 4 days ago.  I don't know if they worked fine previously, and also have any of you recently updated to SP2? Not sure if handles cookies differently.

It gave me some weirdness (being logged out when I had just logged in) when I first started posting, but it has straightened itself out since then.

SP2 fucks up my cookies here at work as well. I'm still on SP1 at home because Freedom Force won't run on 2. Sigh.

I've always had cookie issues with this site.  Its not in my trusted sites admitedly, since its my work PC and that might piss off the IT guys.  Running XP SP1.  For months I've had to log in every time, ususally having to do the login twice in a row before it sticks.  Even then it wouldn't give me the new messages icons until I went in and out of a forum.

This improved a few weeks ago.  Now I have to log in only once, but still everytime I come here.  Also, the new message icons seem to work now.

I got off my lazy ass and researched this, apparently this is a common problem with phpbb.  The solution?

Try closing out of all browser windows, clearing your browsers cookies and cache, then re-logging in. Sometimes if you refresh the page ore login twice you can access the admin panel. The settings in Admin Panel > General Admin > Configuration should be as follows:

Domain Name: www.internationalrecipiesonline.com
Scirpt Path: /foodchat/

Cookie Domain: .internationalrecipesonline.com (notice the two dots!)
Cookie Name: foodchat_bb
Cookie Path: /foodchat (no trailing slash)
Cookie Secure: Disabled

Try it now (if for some reason you can't login or something clear your cookies first).

Cleared cookies and having problems. I browse with Lynx about 80% of the time so here is the prompt I get each time:

Accept invalid cookie path=/forums as a prefix of '/'?

Seriously. Being retro is cute. But get Firefox. Now.

No sympathy.

I don't use Lynx to be retro, I use it out of necessity.

Now, that said, is there any reason you need to set the cookie path to /forums? My guess would be that's causing the problem as all the other cookies for phpbb sites I scanned through in the cookie file use just the default / for the path.

Today was the first time I encountered the logout problem.

Adding f13 to my office browser's trust list helped a little in that at least Newest Message is preserved, but it still loses track of the actual latest message until I close out the browser.

My employer is all-MSFT so firefox isn't an option for me.

I was logged out this morning on my first visit, and was logged out when I popped in just now, this afternoon. Deleted the f13 cookies (and flushed out the cache) and logged back in, will report if any further problems develop, or this one persists.

The problem is happening today to me as well, but as I said, I've had this happen numerous times before.

I am getting logged out every time I leave today (which is new). I have been having issues with having the correct 'Posts read' for months, but it wasn't that big a deal.

I changed it back, I even installed the script which automatically detects and puts in the right settings and it doesn't work.  I reverted to the default settings which works for me fine, clear your cookies before reporting any other errors.

An update to the new phpbb might happen tonight (i'm pretty sure this one has fewer options for cookies), that is if the 6 laptops I just received in various conditions all turn out not to work.

Well, there you go - for the first time ever the boards logged me in automatically.  I didn't touch my cookies or anything. Well done Ookii.

Residual effects from yesterday's cookie changing, we are now running 2.0.10 and cookies seem all good (they weren't working perfectly here before).
