Good luck, I have been trying to get a trial account for roughly 2 and a half weeks. Paypal U.S. accounts are messed up.

Oh well, Im over it I guess...cause like Signe said, chances of Chedds still playing is slim.

I know I seem fickle (I am) and generally flighty, but let me be serious for a moment.

Do not bother with this game.

I can recommend a lot of other ones.  Neocron has a history of issues, ranging from poor patching to ditching fixes in the game in a need to release a half finished expansion.  Neocron 2?  Its the same as Neocron 1, with the same bugs (technically more) and issues with billing.  And by issues I mean the main issue is many banks will not let you sub to it.  For serious.

For the further development we have decided on a way that is supposed to reverse one of our most controversial decisions: When Neocron 2 was released, we divided the factions among two cities. The idea behind this was that “Good” and “Evil” would meet in the Wastelands and fight over the outposts there. Despite the clear goals, this concept didn’t really work out as planned, for different reasons. We heard many voices that wish the initial situation back.

For that reason we will bring the factions closer together again in our next package, to create a more complex gameplay with more variation. Not only will the factions, including HQs and apartments move to Neocron – the sympathy settings will also be reworked to offer a more interesting web of relationships as base for the gameplay.

Best decision ever.  This will bring me back.

I probably would give it a go again as well.  While the lack of population contributed to the problem, the convoluted and poor  design of DOY (like one of those weird Dante's inferno paintings with stairways to nowhere) was probably one of the main reasons that people just didn't make characters there.

Man I miss the pick up battles in Pepper Park and having to run through there with eyes in the back of your head.

And pay him 15 dollars for more.

For reals, this is the only game to keep sucking me back in constantly.  Only catch is I need to start from scratch; last time I returned insane people who recognized me ruined the experience (this is a story in and of itself).  I am thinking that I need to get a sub, make a new character, and somehow transfer stuff over to fund my new guy.  Just one last hit, before I quit.

How about just resub, play untwinked, and see how it goes. Then you will know for sure if you are actually having fun or not. Unless the twinking part is the fun for you, in which case... I dunno.

Part of what I loved about the game was the implant / drug systems.

They wouldnt let me transfer my old account over to NC2 because there wasn't any personal information listed, or some shit...even though I had the old UN/password and responded from the email on the account.  So I'm basically done for good. As much as I tried to give them money, they didn't want it.

You were probably spared hassle anyway, I only managed to transfer 1 character (a male psi monk) because all 3 of my other characters (none of which were male psi monks) were only given the choice of the new male psi monk skins.

Tech support chewed on that for _months_ before finally telling me that I either needed to accept the fact that my other 3 characters were going to have to look like male psi monks forever or restart them from scratch - fortunately none of them were particularly high level so I recreated them but lost the opportunity to carry over what little equipment the transfer actually let you carry (and they gave you a set number of credits dependant on your rank regardless of how much cash you actually had)

The barrier for me has always been the billing... There was simply no option for me to subscribe.. None. Thats not good, considering the free trial also wants subscription info (also, another bad move).

I played it in beta and for a while before the umpteenth delaying of fixes. (it'll be fixed in the Dome of York expansion, really!)


Great potential, wasted. Never going to resub for the same reason as AO: That ship has sailed.

The big problem with Neocro for me was the death penalty. It was WAY too harsh. You die, you spawn WAY far away from where you were at, you lose any drugs you took and your implants pop out... now you can't even equip your weapon because your stats suck... yada, yada, yada...

As a Noob, you die once and realize you're going to have to spend the next hour or two getting resetup and back to where you were at and you just say "Ya know what? Screw this."
