Okay. Generally having a problem here. I literally logged off my computer at 11:00 AM EST. It's currently 12:52 PM EST and I can't get it to start. I have done nothing to fry it; I don't OC, I don't have my computer running ridiculously hot, I didn't spill a liquid inside my box, etc, etc. I think something died. Here's the situation: My computer begins spinning fans, lights the LEDs, and then splats. Nothing more than a slight whir, and then it dies.
I'm thinking it's the PSU, but before I go out and drop $80 on a new PSU, I want to be sure. Obviously it's not any of the add-on stuff, I'm looking at a mobo, psu, CPU, or RAM issue. I think the mobo/RAM are fine, considering they are the newest pieces, but I'm stuck on the PSU/CPU. I'm not too convinced that it is the PSU, considering all I have running in it is the MOBO, a HDD, an add-on Sound Card and a 7900GS. Initially I tried to unplug the video card and boot from there since the 7900GS is my main power hog, but I still get the same error. This leads me to believe that it is a PSU issue. Can anyone confirm/deny my problem? I'm happy to chat on AIM/e-mail/here or wherever to try and figure out this problem.
Thanks :)

2/10 WOULD NOT INGEST

Only way to tell is to strip it down to PSU+mobo+CPU+one RAM stick and try it. If it works, add more pieces until it breaks. If not, try another RAM stick. If it's not that, well... it's one of either PSU or mobo or CPU.

Why am I homeless? Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question. They called it The Prayer, its answer was law Mommy come back 'cause the water's all gone

I've had almost this problem on a computer once, and it was the power supply. You'd turn it on and sometimes it would work, but most of the time it would spin fans, light lights, then just die (the difference between this and what you're describing was that in my case it was intermittent; sometimes it would work, rarely). I replaced power supply with one with more watts (from 250 to 400), $80, and had no problems since then.
No guarantees that it's the PSU in your case too, but if you're gonna troubleshoot by going from the cheapest part to replace to the most expensive, the PSU is first/cheapest anyway, so might as well replace that first.

What Yegolev said. Also if its plugged into a power strip/UPS try a different receptacle.

Alright. Bought a new PSU because 1) I wanted to upgrade anyway and 2) I think it's the problem. The CPU very well could be broken, and if so, then I can't do anything about that today...
More to come when I start it back up, and thanks for the help so far :)

PSU+Mobo+CPU-RAM= Long beep of death. At least it is powering-on correctly though.

Whirr.... click click click click..... Restart.
Fuck. At least the 250GB WD was only $65 USD at Circuit City after a rebate.
At least it started running; thanks all for the diagnostic help :)
