Okay, so this isn't the sequel to X-Com we've all been waiting for. In fact, straight out of the box the game just isn't very good. Thank God it's moddable, because this mod just about fixes everything that's wrong with it. It's actually a very fun game now, and it feels like I'm 19 years old again, living in the barracks, with all my buddies constantly dropping by to continue their campaigns because I'm the only person in the barracks with a computer.
Sucks that it's set on Mars, but it's still not a deal breaker. With the mod in place there's enough good stuff here for you to get some nostalgic, alien killing fun out of it.
You can get it from matrixgames.com. I doubt if it will see general release. I haven't tried it yet but it seems to be more in the spirit of X-Com than all the other pretenders out there. Be careful though, another one of those Afterlight or whatever games came out recently too and that one is more of that real-time-not-really-xcom thing that has been floating around.
