Title: Opera on DS Video
Post by: ForumBot 0.8 beta on July 23, 2006, 10:10:38 PM
Opera on DS Video

Takes a while to load the video, and it is in Japanese of course, but you can see how Opera on DS works.  The most interesting bit is how it can show the full-width page in the bottom screen while a zoom-window is manipulated with the stylus and displays in the top screen.

Arrives in Japan today, July 24; in Europe on October 6.  North Americans will, for once, join the rest of the world in not getting anything nice.

So...why does the US not get this?

Because it sucks? It takes 3 minutes to open CNN.com.

A lot of games on the platform suck as well, but we still get those.

Really I think the question should be: Why is Europe getting this?  Japanese, they would be all over this.  I can tell you from using my Blackberry that surfing the web wirelessly is like surfing the net with your naked testicles, and "the net" is really a cheese grater.  An incredibly slow-loading cheese grater.

Shoot, I was hoping this was an actual opera that was captured and presented on the DS with interactive stylus support.  Now that would be innovative.

Article from 1UP that explains why surfing on a DS sucks (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3152499), but also why it sucks somewhat less than using a PSP.

This will be a game on Wii, currently titled Wii Music if I recall... depending on who you ask.
