We have received word from the publisher NCSoft that Guild Wars Factions Collector's Edition has been delayed beyond the April 28th launch of Guild Wars Factions.

At this time, we do not have an ETA for the Collector's Edition, although the regular edition is still scheduled to ship on time.

This delay affects all US retailers.  You have the following options available to you:

1)Keep your Guild Wars Factions Collector's Edition order as is.  No action on your part is required; we will ship you Guild Wars Factions Collector's Edition as soon as it is available from NCSoft.   We currently have our release date set at May 4th, 2006 but THIS IS ONLY AN ESTIMATE AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

2)Exchange your order for Guild Wars Factions Collector's Edition with Guild Wars Factions Regular Edition.  To do this you must do the following: -Reply to this email by tomorrow, Wednesday April 26th at 6pm CST. -When replying, copy and paste this text into the subject line:  EXCHANGE GWFCE -Your Collector's Edition order will be canceled and you will receive the regular edition at $49.99, plus tax and shipping.

3)Cancel your order for Guild Wars Factions Collector's Edition.  To do this you must do the following: -Reply to this email by Friday, April 28th at 6pm CST. -When replying, copy and paste this text into the subject line:  CANCEL GWFCE -You will receive email confirmation once your order is cancelled.   We realize this is very disappointing, but if you opt to keep your Guild Wars Factions Collector's Edition order, we will notify you via email again as soon as we have a firm release date from NCSoft.

Where is the option where they email me a code and let me keep the order?

Yea, no shit. I just went to my local store to deal with this. Looks like I'm playing a week late now.

My EB had NONE of the preorder boxes but told me they'd get some in. They're not. Too late for me to switch to another store. No early access for me. I emailed NCSoft in the hopes that they may have a solution. They didn't. Over three (3) emails they got my name wrong three (3) times.

In addition to the head start, the pre-order key gives you a 10 day grace period.  I imagine they could extend the grace longer if there are further delays. So I don't think anyone will bared from playing over this.

Why not just get the regular edition? What's in the CE that means anything?

In my case I did. They just happen to not be shipping preorder boxes to the EBs here. Fuckers.

Well it has, among other things, one of those art books that schild loves to collect.

The game's North American collector's edition features a CD of the game's soundtrack, a double-sided poster, an art book, a desk calendar, a mouse pad, a sticker set, and a special in-game emote for the game's new classes, the assassin and the ritualist.

And if you're a Jeremy Soule fan a CD. I'm neutral on the guy but I think his Guild Wars stuff is probably his best work.

I got the Guild Wars CE when that game came out and the soundtrack really is good stuff.  From what I've heard of the new music it's equal quality so that was definitly a benefit to getting the CE for Factions.  As well the artbook with the original was quite nice, I just hope the Factions artbook is hardcover like the original GW and not a cheap softcover one like the one that came with CoV.  I guess ultimately the CE is for people who like to collect game related crap, which means I to, will be waiting an extra week to play.

I'm at least hopeful the special "dance" emotes will be a little more special than the stupid "divine presence" or whatver it was called from GW.  The shiny hands thing was almost more embarrasing than anything and you couldn't even turn it off.

On a slightly related note, I bought my copy from Best Buy today (not the CE, just regular), street date for it is tomorrow on all their adverts, but on their system, it's actually today.

If you ever played COH and have an NCSOFT account just goto the COH site and then the account page. From there you can buy the expansion code directly online from NCSOFT and download it without any of the usual waiting bullshit. Works everytime for me.
