Title: Bat Country Wipe
Post by: SuperPopTart on December 13, 2005, 07:55:41 AM
Recreated The Bat Country guild because someone has Bat Country or the name is bugged.

If you need an invite in guild, find me as Maytharyia or Helga, once people start logging in and get invited Xilren is getting back leadership.

And Cal, you may have already answered this somewhere but will the guilds be disbanded back and forth through stress?

Hopefully not. Right now we're tracking a bug with guilds so we may have to wipe the guilds again. We're going to try very hard to avoid it though.

I heard that PopTart will use spankings and fruit to "convince" you to fix it quickly.  (http://community.the-underdogs.org/smiley/noughty/spank.gif)

Then why do you have access to this forum?

My client isn't working.  Tried reinstalling to no avail.

k, didn't know you were having issues. My only issue has been the keybindings getting wiped and then new bindings not working.

Nope, my client won't load from the launcher.

No error, everything looks fine, then when I click launch, the computer thinks about it, then decides not to.

Wasn't there someone out here with the nick Avatard? He had Hasselhoff as his.

Friend of mine had a similar problem and this tip in the forums fixed it (http://betaforums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=4597). Yes, this tip says people are getting a specific error message, but yours may be related and the same solution might work. Worth a try.

That is a completely different sort of Avatard and he left because he thought I was mean to him.  I was only teasing!  On his last day he sent me a PM asking me why I hated him.  I don't see how anyone could ever accuse me of hate or even unpleasantness.

This is what he mailed me:

why the hate

And that is the last he was seen.  Wanker.  He made me feel guilty for teasing him.  (http://smiley.onegreatguy.net/sigh.gif)

Stop chasing the funny ones away. Be mean to people who deserve it, like Strazos.

They don't believe you.  I don't blame them!  You have shify eyes.

And I DIDN'T chase away Avatard!  I didn't know he was so sensitive.  I miss him dreadfully, too.  (http://smiley.onegreatguy.net/sad.gif)

Need a little more info.

You launch the client, type in your username/password, click the server, hit login, accept the NDA... and then it hangs or does it close the program?

Title: Re: Bat Country Wipe
Post by: MrHat on December 14, 2005, 11:45:20 AM
My computer ramps up like it's going to load the client, then nothing.

1. Open DDO Launcher
2. Enter Username/Password
3. Click Login
4. Login goes through 3 steps
5. Select Orien World
6. Click Play
7. Scroll through NDA to end
8. Click I Agree
9. Computer makes a noise like it's going to do something, launcher minimizes to system tray and nothing else happens.

Are you running any kind of AV or other app that might be blocking a process from running, or blocking communication between client and server?

Nope, I like to thrust into the internet unprotected.

No -- you just like to thrust. ;)

It might just be a simple matter of making an exception for the DDO client process in one of these.

Ah ok. This may sound silly, but try turning off the DDO app in the system tray. That has solved this problem for other users.

Sorry. I meant go into options and turn off the option that makes it appear in the system tray.

QA sent me some more ideas...

Go into the options tab of the launcher, then the advanced tab, then click off “Show the launcher in the system tray.”  Then reboot the computer and try again. I know you did this, but did you reboot your computer after doing so?

If not, reboot and then then do this...

Go to options - Repair and click on “Reset the game display settings” then try launching the game.

Tried again.

No change. :(

As an aside, DDO Launcher no longer minimizes, but still shows up in my Processes using about 50-90% of my CPU and ~ 46MB's of Mem Usage.

I have to then kill it in Processes.

Which copy of .NET do you have?  Maybe it's 2.0 and not 1.1?
