Title: Catass2Justice Battleplans
Post by: schild on April 15, 2004, 01:31:25 AM
Catass2Justice (verb): derived from play2crush. In a game with no pvp, there is no crushing. But we are presented with the oppurtunity to get out of newbie zones. The first weekend gives us this oppurtunity. It will from here on out be known as "The Catass2Justice" (copyrighted).

Starting on the Friday on which Catass2Justice begins I'm pretty sure I have a Spanish Final. Sigh. But after that it's no holds barred crazy kung-fu action style Catassing for the following 68 hours. I don't really plan on sleeping, I want to be at LEAST level 15 if not 20 or 25 by the end of the weekend. Here's how I see it's possible.

Order a pizza, 2 veggie subs, and 3 salads from the local diner. That should last me the weekend.

First Morning: Log on, see what servers are open, post the least populated in an Announcement in this forum and everyone logs onto that server.

(Fri) 1st Night - 3 P.M. - 2 A.M.: I start as my scrapper. I can get to level 6 with my scrapper in under 1 hour. From there do missions with my 2 new level 6 contacts until 7. Then go straight to Perez Park for CoT missions. By the time I finish a handful of those I should be 10. This should take a total of - if I'm correct 11 hours. Bat Country should be made by the end of that night.

Sleep 6-8 Hours.

(Sat) 2nd Day - 12 P.M. - 4 A.M.: Get levels 10-14 today. Try to have all my enchanments be Dual Origin (aside from movement powers) By the end of the night. Try to organize a task force with all the other level 14's in the guild to kill Dr. Vahz (Vahzilok leader). You get the mission from the police guy standing in front of the GIANT statue in the dead center of Steel Canyon next to Valkyrie. Get my first title - if we can pick, Legendary.

Sleep 8 hours.

(Sun) 3rd Day - 12 P.M. - Try and get to level 20. I have no fucking clue how to do this, but it will probably involve a lot of leveling in Skyway City and Boomtown. Following achieving level 20 I will aim for level 10 with my Defender Alt.

I REALLY don't want to be swept up in the craziness of release. In fact I don't plan on logging in til the 3rd or 4th day of release after the batfuckiness of a released MMORPG has calmed down. If someone wants to get into the guild they will probably have to speak to Haemish or Joe.

Please post your battle plans below so we can organize groups and Circle of Thorns Raids (level 7 minimum. If you ain't there by the end of Friday night I'll have blown by you).

Errrr - correct me if I'm wrong - but isnt the 3 days prior to release we get the 25th-27th with release on the 28th (A Wednesday)?  If so, the 25th is a Sunday so doesn't that make the idea of a whole weekend kinda moot? :)

Schild must be using some kind of bizaaro superhero calendar.  The 25th is the first live pre-order day.  That is Sunday, not Friday.  So unless you have Monday and Tuesday off, your plan aint happening.

Besides, why do you want to do that anyway?  Will kind of keep you from grouping with most people which is the most fun thing in the game.  I enjoy soloing, but grouping is damn fun too.

I can understand catassing to level 10 for the guild.

In SWG we catassed for our Guildhall and had it on the fourth day that Wanderhome was live (first pa hall on wanderhome).  We then also built the next 2 PA halls and sold them to some friends of ours so we were the first guilds.  That was only fun because it was a huge collaborative effort.  We probably could have done it in 2-3 days had we farmed the master architecht account around to others for constant leveling, but we just stuck with one person on the MA account.  One very sleepy person.

Geez... way to put a kink in his plans over something as insignificant as making sense, guys.

I'll be here for Monday and Tuesday night but that's about it.  Hopefully I can get up to at least 10 before release.

All I have to say is... no. Just... no.

But to add, I plan on just playing, and leveling as I go. I do not want to do anything to jeapordize my enjoyment of the first good MMOG in years.

I do understand the level to 10 for Bat Country (AND FOR AWESOME). After that, it happens when it happens.

Once I signed up with some friends in a dedicated, full-time exp group to roll some alts in DAOC (Albion/Prydwen).  I had a week off work and nothing much to do, so I thought it would be interesting to see what it was like being a real genuine hardcore catass.

I'll never do anything like that ever again.  Good luck to you all!

Schild doesn't burn out. He runs out of content.

Is anyone interested in Teamspeak for Bat Country? I have a TS server that isn't currently being used due to the fact that I'm burned out on SB and so is everyne else that was/is in my guild. I don't know how useful it would be other than just shooting the breeze and discussing spandex care tips.

That may be useful when we start doing task force missions and whatnot. I'll keep that in mind when we start hitting the upper teens in level.

I like Ventrilo better than Teamspeak. Anyone else ever used it? It rocks.

Is it router friendly?  If not, it can fuck off, die and shrivel up into a little black pustule for all I care.

If it is then I will probably check it out.

Heh, I can actually catass those days if I so choose.

Problem is that it's when the weather here is probably the most kickass it is all year.  Outside is so much fun too....if only my laptop would run CoH and I could find a wireless hotspot....oh well.

I'd not sweat anything but hitting lv 10, man.  I'll probably get a controller or scrapper up to 7 as fast as I can (fights as a controller take longer, especially starting out) and then hope for a non-sucky group in Perez and SC, etc.

I would like to get to try one of these title-giving missions though.

Teamspeak supports more platforms. That's the biggest reason I chose it over Ventrilo. Since I was using TS for SB, I had to have something that supported PCs and Macs.

That I don't know- check the website (http://www.ventrilo.com/) if you are so inclined. I don't know enough about it to be able to speak intelligently on its technical proclivities.

I'm not crazy about TS, but I'll use it, if I must.  At least Verrul isn't around to scare the shit out of me everytime he speaks.  I tend to listen more than I talk as I'm extremely shy and demure.  Really.  I am.  Fuck you if you don't believe me.

Actually, I'm not sure I can do level 10 in that amount of time.  I've been playing an awful lot (for me) and I'm just 10 now.  I am rather prone to in-game idling... easily recognisable by the newspaper in my hands.  If I don't take frequent breaks, I'll die.  It's a fact.

I am unsure if I can make the catass-a-thon because of work, bloody crap.

Will try though.

If there is a consensus on Ventrilo over TS and if it'll get used on a frequent basis, I have no problem switching over to Ventrilo as long as there is demand.

Don't change anything until you look into routers.  A lot of voice over IP shits a brick behind a router.  Most of us here probably have routers.  Teamspeak is very very router friendly.  I don't know about this ventrilo doodad.

I have been playing the beta with a friend over the phone and it's MUCH simpler to communicate and generally fuck around.  Makes for much fun.

Well, put the server up regardless.  I know I'll use it.  Ever since I was introduced to TS/Vent with Shadowbane I've pretty much written off actually typing out messages to people.

TS server is up. Right now I have a limit of 12 people on it, but I'll bump it up to 24 if enough people want to use it. I can go higher if there's call as well.  IP is 66.199.147.224:8795

You can have either a registered account or you can use it anonymously by connecting with the server/channel password of "catass2justice".

I gave schild admin rights on the TS server so it can be abused however it needs to be.

Sweet, I like TS. Had my first real experiance with it in SB, and I cant imagine a coordinated guild with out it thesedays.

Hell, I dont think it will be long before MMOGs have Team Speak type software included in their client.

Heh, I have to work all three days, in the afternoon/evening EST.  I'll probably be on in the mornings, tho, and I have release day off, so I can watch the servers go to crap that afternoon.  Weee.

Planetside has automatic voice support to your team mates, tribes 2 had a hotkey you could hit to send a short message via mic.  The problem is both of these are running on overworked servers and sound like SHIT.  Everyone in T2 or PS just used teamspeak on a dedicated server anyway.  Ah well.

Teamspeak can't handle that many people per server, that's the problem.  Not sure when MMOGs will finally get that tech down.

If anyone wants a private account on the TS server for bragging rights or because they collect logins instead of pogs or gum wrappers, drop me a PM.

Would I be insane and outright stupid trying to login to CoH with TS running on 56K? CoH only lagged twice  (for about 10 seconds) during two 3-4 hours sessions. I'd assume it'd do OK.

I think I tried this once before in more extreme conditions. I really don't remember how it went though. WW2O + TS.

Cool on TS. I can't speak into it, but I can listen and acknowledge in chat.

My catass plans are to really not all that intense. I'm not much of a powergamer but do really not want to be in the lagfest launch day will be. Instanced Atlas Parks is going to be huge, but no matter how many there are, there won't be enough.

I'm going to be almost exactly what I'm focusing on now (Energy Blaster Manipulation Flight). Just fun as heck, and while Fire is cool too, the rest don't hold much interest for me yet.

Title: Catass2Justice Battleplans
Post by: Alluvian on April 18, 2004, 08:36:38 PM
Energy is awesome vs a single target (huge single target damage).
Fire is awesome vs groups of targets (moderate large aoe damage).

Both are really cool for different purposes.  As a fire blaster I love having Electron bolt (energy blaster) around when those bosses/LTs show up.

Fire is abit tricky because some of their nice damage is close range stuff like fire breath.  Kickass damage in a nice cone, but can be risky getting that close.  I usually stick with immobile/confused/engaged in melee targets for it.

Hehe, well, my goal may be changing over to Fire anyway. Man, leveling is faster the second time around. I was having so much fun I never logged in Darniaq to see if anyone was on to SuperGroup me.

In any case, I went full Fire (Fire + Fire Manipulate) and took Jumping instead of Flight just to mess around. I like your thought on Fire + Energy though. I'll try that next.

Until Sunday, I'm just gonna try a few combos of things to level 7. One combo per night :)

I do however suggest that we make one char and get that one as leveled as possible. We all have been trying out combos and should be fairly knowledgeable on what works. I mean DD is fairly tough in a fight up to a point now but Im really digging on being able to take stuff on from a distance .

Yea, I'm with you on that :)

I'm in the middle of the "Launch Day Test" on Justice tonight. It's doing alright, but the amount of player clumping is making it places around either of the newb trainers very difficult to navigate. I'm sure that's the intent of this thread though :)

Post by: DarkDryad on April 20, 2004, 07:21:04 AM
One you get into the game and hit lvl 3 dont screw with the newb trainers in Atlas . Go to Galaxy city  or kings. The trainers are a quick run through fairly uninhabited streets  train there. Less folks and lag to boot :)
