Title: Bat Country: Guidelines and Roll Call for live [update]
Post by: schild on April 15, 2004, 12:34:02 AM
We're gearing up for release in Bat Country, and with the limit of 75 players in a supergroup, we need to set up a few ground rules.

The first 22 people (first 3 are Haemish, Joe, and Schild) to express interest will receive two character "slots" within the group. The remaining 25 will only receive one. As the number of players within supergroups is increased, we'll first allow the remaining 25 a second slot, and then work back down from the top of the list, allowing the initial 22 a third.

From there, things will develop. We're gonna keep things pretty loosely organized, and we'll probably make captains of people who show enough interest to play a good amount, or posess some leadership qualities.

Below would you please answer the following questions in this format (if you only want to play 1 toon, then only list 1 toon. If you can't commit to more than one, just say so).:

Hero name(s): ??? & Motion Sickness
Hero archetype(s): M. Arts/Reflex Scrapper & Rad/Rad Defender
Can you commit to the Catass2Justice weekend? Yes/No

EDIT: Catass2Justice weekend is the weekend preorder people are allowed in before it goes live. We want to get out of the newbie areas (Atlas Park, Kings Row, Galaxy City, and The Sewer System) before the public is unleashed upon us. It is important. Don't pretend it isn't. Map Connection Lost sucks.

It's not a weekend. I am a calendar retarded apparently.

Quote from: Sonic Purge
Just to remind everyone, catassing starts on Sunday the 25th and runs through the 27th, which is a Tuesday. Game goes live on Wednesday the 28th.

Signe
Gravity Controller/Empathy
I'm afraid of committment but EB appears to have shipped the bonus CD so I'll be around for that party weekend. I have no idea what to make an alt though or if I'll even have one in the group.

Righ is playing some sort of blaster and will be there also, though he is pretty busy at work this week so he probably won't have time to peruse any boards.  He may have the entire release week off, though.

I'm planning on picking up a preorder box from the local EB tommorrow if they still have them, but I won't have much time to play before the preorder weekend..  Assuming that I'm invited I'm interested in joining:

Hero Name:  ??? (most likely Cevik, because I'm original like that)
Archetype:  fire?/fire? blaster (I'm thinking of trying to build a blaster of some kind)
Can I commit:  I have commitment issues.  I'll be around in preorder weekend but unfortunately I'm unable to commit to catassing at all ever.  I have to make time for the baby and the wife and work and all of that you know..

EDIT:  Think I've decided to go fire/fire blaster, not 100% decided yet, however.

I am in- haven't played yet, so I don't know the character yet (I want to try some kind of controller/mezzer for sure). If there is room, I am hoping my old roomie can join us as well (he is an HD alum).

I THINK I will be moved in and ready to go by this time next week, so I will have a day or two of beta to dick around before the Catassing starts. I don't know how long I will be able to play during that weekend, but I will definitely be on.

I'll be buying the game, but finding a pre-order box isn't happening; but if you've got space in the catass league of superheroes I'd like to join.

I will be playing for sure.  And I would like to have one character in this SUPERgroup (I can't help but mentally pronounce that like Big Gay Al).

True conversation between my wife and I:

Quote
My wife laughed histerically when I told her that is what guilds were called.  Then she calmed down and asked me, "That was hilarious, no, what are they REALLY called?".

Since then she has asked me two or three times randomly out of the blue, "Do they REALLY call them super groups?".

Finally I had to put some sense into her.  "Linda, they call them Player Associations in SWG and still freaking use /GU to speak in them."

Her response was "Yeah, and supergroup fits the genre for sure, but I just find it funny to say... supergroup".

Then I reply in my Big Gay Al voice "No, silly, they're SUPERgroups!".

The logical response from her was, "I guess that DOES explain the tights".

"And my matching hat..."

P.S:  My wife kicks ass.

There is my totally unrelated supergroup story.

Um... And to stay on topic, I don't know what name or character I will be putting in the guild.  I will be filling up all 8 slots for sure though.  Depends on who shakes out.  I just want to reserve a slot and I will poke someone in charge when I figure things out.

Wish I knew who and how many are coming over to play CoH from my EQ/SWG guilds.  I have a bunch of 'probablys' or 'sometime after launch for sure'.

I will have to try to get them all on the victory server now I can keep secret tabs on them.

I would like to have at least one character in bat country. The name of that character is kinda in flux right now it depends what server we go to and what I can lock down for a name. The character I have in bat country will be a controller but I am really tossing around what combo I want will either be fire/ice or earth/storm controller.

I will post the name I finally get and the archtetype and powers once I get it in and locked down.

After my whopping hour and a half beta session, I'm betting money that Bozo won't be available as a name.  Sadly, my less than original backup plan (Supervolt) was taken too.  So the new and improved information for my guy is:

Mr. Subtle
Tanker
Invuln/Super Strength

Appearance: Dressed like a color-blind pimp.

The name block is only long enough for 15 characters, so I can't be Alkiera Kerithor unless I shorten it in some lame way.  Instead, I've resevered 'Alkiera', and put my last name in my profile.

I reserved "Electron Volt" (the amount of energy in one electron passed through an electric field of one volt, usually designated eV) on what was the name reserve server and Electron Blue on freedom (ne prime).

Not sure if I will actually be able to participate in catass2justice but I have a 10 days off the week after and am sure I will show you all the true definition of the word catass.

edit:
Also If I can manage it again (got lucky in beta) I'll have a scrapper alt named Buckaroo Bonzai or Jack Burton.

Not sure what my name will be, as I'm still torn between making a WildWest gunfighter (assault rifle/gadgets), insane Knight (don't like melee much in this game though), or campy super hero in tights(blaster or defender).

Just can't decide whether to poor on the cheese and go for tights and a campy name or be the lone gunman in a land of spandex (it's hard to justify super speed on a gunslinger(yah I try not to break fiction)).

Errr.. long story short, save me a spot. I like the game (and shit, it's an actual game).

Statesman had this to say about the 75 character limit yesterday:

Quote
Actually, the number 75 is not just picked out the air. The limitation is based on a feature that you'll here about in the next month or so.

So it looks like the limit will still be in place but for an as yet unknown reason.  Maybe it has something to do with HQ's.

Maybe it has something to do with HQ's.

Shot in the dark: Possibly has to do with their instancing implimentation and City of Villians. Say your supergroup is defending an instanced warehouse (75 people) from another supergroup who is attacking the warehouse (75 people). That gives you a max of 150 people in the instanced zone.

Same thing applies to HQ's. You could have 75 supergroup members and 75 guests in the HQ for 150 total.

I'll wager the Atlas Park 2 zone shows up when the Atlas Park 1 zone gets near 130-140 players.

I made a new post asking for a guild invite, reading the sticky threads woulda been a good idea ;)

I'm a good friend of Apothecary, he told me to come here and sign up to see if I can get a spot in the supergroup!

My char is a martial / regeneration named Deathstriker, and I plan to play an electricity blaster named Thayvius.

I understand there's some form of cap on the supergroup size so it's all good if only one can get invited :)

That and and possibly something to do with instancing and multi-grouping in the trial zones. Either way, Cryptic has their shit together. They know their limitations and they plan accordingly.

Next interesting question: when do people generally play? I seem to be good for most weeknights from 9 - 11PM MST. Weekends... who knows?

Roster's been updated (http://www.darniaq.com/CoH/BatCountry/BatCountry-Roster.htm). Hit refresh if it's wrong. Also, the page title now includes the date of the last update, and gray bars to signify who's a member and who's got an application pending.

Darniaq snubbed me, I'm so hurt. I'm going to go cry in my beer and get hammered on tears.

:P

8-Track (energy/energy blaster)

that's about it... I have some others, but they're not much worth mentioning.

I also have "Turtle" a gravity/force field controller which I hope someday I will have the patience to level up to become "The Great and Powerful Turtle", He's actually pretty fun to level, as opposed to all the other controllers I've tried and hated.

Did I ever tell you I was a huge fan of Aces-High?

Also, I have an energy tanker named Sho-Nuff, with the glowy red hands and sparks when he hits things looks just like he should from the last dragon.

I also wanted Jack "It's all in the reflexes" Burton but someone beat me to it.

Hey folks. I made a "Calenth" on victory because that's where the SA people were playing, and Angry Bob let me know about y'all in game too, which is good. Hopefully more than one or two of you remember me, thought it's been a while. He's a magic origin mind controller, and will probably end up SA guilded (if I don't end up on a diff. server completely) but would like to play with such of you as remember me. So just letting y'all know I'm around, even if the char doesn't fit your  guild standards. (Hey, there's a long tradition of nazi magicians!)

Forgive my poor, school addled brain, but who are the 'SA people' and what is the name of their guild?

I'm going to assume SA means Something Awful.

I hope it does.  It could mean something scary... like South African.

Where is Angry.Bob, anyway?  Is he actually playing as SirBruce?

I've decided to cancel my sub before the next bank debit.  I've become bored and haven't logged in for any real amount of time for a week or so.  Maybe I just have a lot on my mind with the moving coming up and all.  I still like the game and will probably return... maybe even before the launch of CoV.  I'll hack and slash at some flax now and then, I suppose, until something interesting catches my eye.  I might have a crush on Nebu.... it's still too soon to determine.  Don't tell Righ.

I thought I might play a bit of AC until I looked again and remembered how ugly it was.  I may start up my sub with SWG again... because I want to see what's different.  Convince me I'm insane.  Darniaq?

I was very pretty in SWG, you know.

Don't resub to SWG. I almost did as well. It's just not worth the trauma.

My house is still standing in SWG (checked with a trial account).  I don't remember leaving THAT much money on it.

I thought about resubbing because two of my old EQ buddies starting playing (my old roommate and his brother) but they already hate it.

Save yourself the trauma and just pick grass and turn it into straw.  MY CAMELS NEED TO EAT.

Oh dear.  I hope I'm not supposed to take care of your pets while you are moving.  They could die.  Can they be slaughtered once they're dead?  With you and Lord Nebu away, and schild busy finding himself... I'm a bit worried.  Hopefully, Delim will still be about as Righ has gotten himself into SWG again, for a bit.  Til July 12th, anyay.

Oh, the stress... the stress!!
