It does, although I don't think we game anymore. We just grumble about sports, movies, and the weather.

I think we generally post less about gaming simply because we don't get deeply invested in bad MMOGs and then spend years complaining about them, which used to be one of the foundations of our gaming discussion.  Now we have real world things to complain about instead.   :awesome_for_real:

I don't play shitty games anymore. Not enough time, not enough patience. I also don't play games that are only improved by the presence of other people.Conan Exiles somewhat flies in the face of those assertions. :awesome_for_real:

We also rarely have a critical mass of people playing the same game at the same time anymore, so most games are either discussed briefly in the "So what are you playing?" thread or else get their own thread that goes nowhere 90% of the time. I've probably played more different games in 2018 than I had in the past few years, largely because of the Switch.

Christ - I was still in my TWENTIES when I registered for these boards.

2018 was awesome for games. I play more games now than I ever have.

Hell, the fact that my kid has moved out means I both more time and disposable income to spend on games.

Of course this just means that my backlog is deeper than ever. I may have to retire just to get through my Steam library at least once.

There is a good number of us that also talk all day in discord too.

Broken Forum appears to be alive and active.  My memory was that Lum had completely sealed it off during Goobergate, but a quick glance shows that only a couple of the subforums are private now.

F13 is still the main descendant of LTM. I think there are more lum era remnants here than on broken toys.

Most of broken toys came from the QT3 schism.

QT3 was more of a fukushima style event rather than a schism, and yeah, that's really the reason BT exists as it does.

I’m just glad all I have to do these days is read and occasionally post. The hassles and headaches of who hated who and who went where combined with changing forums and registering accounts multiple times in multiple places were annoying. But then at 20-22 I tolerated that more than I do now at almost 40.

Everything is serious business when you're young.

I registered in 2004 which blows my mind. I didn't realize I'd been here that long. The dude who pointed this forum out to me isn't even in my life anymore. Also, high-five from another person who doesn't add much to the conversation around her.

The longest I've lived in one place was 12 years, and I was at my old job for 17 years (which still feels like my entire life -- it was just over half of it by the time I left, technically).  Another couple of years and f13 will be the single most enduring thing to ever be a part of my life on a daily basis.  I don't even still read the same webcomics that I read 16 years ago.

I first found Waterthread due to its intelligent discussion of MMOs. I went over to corpnews, then to f13. I had no history with LtM or the in-jokes on Waterthread, but I could understand because I was a founder of the first large Australian EverQuest guild and many of our people were UO vets. We went on to start the first Aussie-based power/raiding guild in EQ. Then I played SWG in a guild run by Tigole's former EQ officers, and we got into the WoW beta early.

Somewhere in the middle of all that, I needed the level of discussion Waterthread/Corpnews/F13 offered. F13 is still always ahead of the curve on things I like now: I first learned about Game of Thrones here, the Elite: Dangerous kickstarter, many other games, movies and TV shows, and I get to discuss politics in the Trump era here. You are all part of how I use the internet. Thanks. I once had a job interview (no, not this (http://forums.f13.net/index.php?topic=15577.0)) where I was asked which sites I visited daily, and I truthfully mentioned this one. I didn't get the job, so fuck you all too.

I still think f12 was the best f.

We had a Scottish version that was just f-u but I don't know what happened to it.

I like that this thread has gone on for two pages and a couple weeks even though Ratman didn't check back in after the first day.
