Title: Bless Online
Post by: Falconeer on May 28, 2018, 01:47:48 PM
New absolutely unoriginal Korean MMORPG!

Uh oh, server down. Uh oh, server broken. Uh oh, queue and and more queue. Uh oh, you can't create a char on thie same faction as your friends cause it is overcrowded.

Anyway, reserving this space for more comments later.

I picked up the standard pack today.  I'll play for a bit and see how it goes.  If it's absolute dog shit from the start then at least I can get a refund, unlike the other 2 founders packs.

I am pretty sure it's dog shit. It also feels like dog shit, you know the UI and everything. It runs on Unreal 3 and DX9. It just feels like poop. My masochism must be peaking right now.

Suffice to say that 3 seconds after entering the game you are tasked with completing the combat tutorial. Which is almost impossible to progress through as every single skill/action that you are asked to perform DOES NOT CORRESPOND to the names of the skills/menus/tabs/keys. It says "attach" but in the actual UI it is "mount" (?!), it says "use the CHARGE skill" and it is actually called "Rush", it says "USe the Skill Chain Tab" and there is nothing with that name anywhere, it says "use the Obtain Container skill" and of course nothing with that name or anything similar is in the game. It is an absolute pre-pre-alpha dillettante hour mess, and this is what you see in the first 3 seconds. After that, you just realize that this is the kind of low budget/low polish Asian MMORPGs that were being released in the West -for free- by companies like Aeria or gPotato around 5 to 8 years ago. Except they are asking $30 here.

Stay away.

I appreciate the warning. After Soul Worker I'm kinda burned out on MMOs again, but good to know this is a steaming pile so it will be really easy to avoid.

I refunded as well for the same reasons Falconeer did.  Dog shit.  Complete and utter dog shit.

It's a decent instance-based KMMO with nice anime visuals. Unfortunately it also has a mobile-style energy system on top of everything else wrong with KMMOs.

it's called soul worker

SoulWorker is about six to nine times better than Bless.

Also, free.

Don't buy Bless now.  Go back in six months and it'll be free to play.  Then don't download it.

The official f13 review by Signe.

I was wondering why this was popping up for so many people on Steam.

Bought it on a whim, returned quickly.

Haven't played an MMO in a while. I'll probably download gw2 again.

I tried both GW2 and SWTOR recently. I think I'm finally over mmo entirely.

I haven't played one in 2 years and before that not much outside a month or two with a new release.

Tired of POE, gw2 seems casual enough for me to try it again.

Just dive into Conan Exiles on a private server like f13. It's a better MMO than you're going to get anywhere else.

It's true.  Conan, in it's infancy, was a better MMO than this.  I only have this game because of my nephew.  I actually think he wanted to play because it was supposed to be adult oriented and have open PvP.  They decided to take out the adult bits and censor it pretty heavily although badly.  You can't say "butt" but there's a character running around named xPenisx and one named FagFace.I haven't seen the PvP at all but I think you have to be level 30 or something to partake.  I only got a character to level 7 before I wandered off.  My nephew got pretty far although he's very disappointed.  This game is nothing like the hype.  It almost feels like a bait and switch.  The community, especially the Help Chat channel, is toxic.  Nearly everything is broken.  It's a sad, sad game and I don't feel sorry for it.

I'm playing this, currently trying to grind up in levels enough to take part in PvP.

I have also played Conan Exiles. Schild is right.

Unfortunately Conan Exiles is not really an MMO.

Title: Re: Bless Online

And sadly it's still better at being an MMO than most of the shit out currently.

Title: Re: Bless Online

Yeah, I think schild's point was exactly that:  Conan is a better MMO and it's not even an MMO.  I have to agree.  I wish there WAS an MMORPG in the style of it.  I did tell my nephew this morning that Conan is the "MMO" he needs and I already have it.  You can play the single player game offline too, no?  That would be good for when he's home where his internet is spotty.

Conan Exiles is an MMO when played on a live server with random people. Even with a population cap of 80 players these games (Conan Exiles, ARK, Rust) are by all accounts MMORPGs. Their design is very similar to both Ultima Online and Star Wars Galaxies.

It's when you make private servers with only a handful of people that they lose the first "M" and turn into (good) coop games like "7 days to die".

Title: Re: Bless Online
Post by: Segoris on June 02, 2018, 01:14:15 PM
I'd agree if I didn't feel that the first "M" in MMO died 5 years ago when it comes to number of people playing. Content is scaled down for 1-10 people now anyways.

The last thing that is massive in MMOs are usually the map sizes, and even that barely matters outside of the initial leveling experience or for alts.

Counterpoint: random people were always the worst part of MMOs anyway.

Disagree. I hate humans, but in videogames they add content and stories. Even when they are shitty humans.

I like people being there as random background and as fodder for me to pvp on, but forced interaction can derelict my nuts.

Title: Re: Bless Online
Post by: Sir T on June 04, 2018, 01:50:53 AM
I like Humans as these things that can randomly op in and help me kill shit and then leave, and to provide background chatter. Which is the GW2 approach, where anyone that's in on the kill gets XP and lewt. Its kind of relaxing in a way, you are running along, you see a fight happening, so you can join in if you want and then you are on your way.

Title: Re: Bless Online
Post by: Falconeer on June 04, 2018, 03:42:58 AM
Yes, but random humans are even more important in games where you build on a shared land. As you all mentioned, it's OK if you don't have to interact and humans are only there as background, after all what I really want them around for is

a) to restock the auction house or vendors and provide some form of trading functionality.
b) build huts, structures and fortresses to make the world interesting to explore.

This was true in UO and it is still true in these games. That's why they shine with open servers. Rust is the best MMORPG out there at the moment with its 200 players per server. Too bad it's exclusively Felucca. Heh.

I don't know why certain people (not necessarily people here) hyped for Bless expected anything out of it. It's an MMO that's already failed in at least two, maybe three different regions (Korea, China... Russia?), and I don't know why anyone might have thought that it'd succeed in the West.

There are a few gamers where I work, and it's funny to go from reading this thread into work where everybody is also talking about how crappy Bless Online is. I mean, usually there will be some contrarian who likes the worst game possible (often it's me, to be honest), but *everybody* is crapping on this.

Almost makes me want to download it just to see for myself.

Almost...
