She really changed my understanding of what SF could do when I was a teenager. Amazing, thoughtful writer. A great essayist too.

My father-in-law was a good friend to Ursula LeGuin and he's devastated. I got to meet her at a book signing but I balked at meeting her as the son-in-law of her friend, mostly because I'd probably just hero worship embarrassingly at her. I mean what am I going to say? That entire parts of my brain have been formed by you? In any event, she may be gone, but she's still immortal in my book.
