Title: Hero's Song
Post by: Signe on November 14, 2016, 11:12:11 AM
It's in very early access on Steam.  Smed and cronies made it.  It's not really an MMOG, I don't think.  I'm not sure what it will end up being.  It is allegedly hardcore survival and has permadeath but at some point you will be able to create your own world and modify that.  Someone gave me a gift card and I bought it.  I haven't been able to last more than ten minutes.  I can't kill anything and everything can kill me.  I guess I could kill a bunny but, OMG, they are so cute.

Somebody play this before me, pls.  Srsly.

Multiplayer/PvP?

You can make your own server or join one with the sorts of permissions you like with pvp, permadeath, etc.  I think the focus is actually pvp and survival... it IS Smedley, after all, and he's all about the "hardcore", you know.     I think, at the moment, you can make a world for up to 25 players.

I think your best bet is to buy it and play it and then you can come back here and tell me all about it.  Try and do it while I still have time for a refund.

Just a suggestion....

It looks interesting but it's the sort of thing I would only want to play solo. And I'm not paying $20 for early access nonsense.

I like Smed.

I don't know why this game or studio exists.

Signe, go back and read your first post and let me know if any of it looks hauntingly familiar.

My first post in this thread?  Ever?  I don't know what you mean and I will remain not knowing what you mean until one of us is dead.  Maybe longer.

It's cute.  It's barebones and not a lot to do.  Skeletal Archers fuck me up with how accurate and deadly they are.  My Necromancer's Skeletal Archer is a skeleton of Corky Thatcher with a nerf bow.

Also, finding a dungeon took me hours of searching.

I can see it being a fun little diversion, but I don't see it having a lasting appeal, especially for the jade community.

I don't like Smed but even I know he's wasting his time and talent on this.

Well, I think you can stick a fork in this one.  Seems some staff members have already left and the company is short on cash.  Never a good sign for the future.

The game is officially cancelled and they are refunding the game.

Got our answer - no reason whatsoever.

(well, passion, but oof, that's a tough road)

I think this was the obvious outcome.

Whole lot of skulls for the MMO skull throne the last few years.
