Title: 2015/16 F13 Fantasy Football Primary League
Post by: shiznitz on May 28, 2015, 09:17:53 AM
I know it will be impossible to accomdate everyone, but if you plan to rejoin the league, let me know what dates/times during the last two weeks of August are BAD for a live draft.  I will be setting up the league this week.

I think I'll be good anytime. I don't plan on being away from Internet access anytime during August.

I am available pretty much any time Friday through Monday, and later in the evening Tuesday through Thursday. Don't have any plans to be out of town in August.

Invites are out.

Draft date is

Date: Thursday, August 27, 2015
Time: 9:00 pm (assuming EDT)

I can still change it if this messes anyone up.

If there's any other slots that come available as things progress I'd like to add my name to the waiting list.  I was planning on rejoining the JV league for sure but if you need someone I'd like to play.

Back in, and I have a friend in the JV league that would very likely fill a spot in the main league if an opening pops up without an F13 person wanting it.

I'll put my name in as well.  Since my automatic promotion from the JV league seems to have hit some kind of technical error.

Speaking of, is someone going to setup the JV league?

As of right now, the primary league (no reason to call it varsity, it was just the first started) is full at 12 with two new players.

As someone who hasn't even made the finals in 11 years, it's very important to my self-worth to call it varsity.

Agreed, I was graded out at a C+.  In one way I can understand when I read how Yahoo metrics the drafting out, and looking at my team some of my picks may not have made immediate sense, but considering the league scoring is half point PPR and 1 point per 15 reception yards I had a "strategy"  :uhrr: and tried to stick with it.  Guess we'll see!

I had an amazing gift handed to me in the first round with Peterson dropping to me at #5.  I then proceeded to more than counteract that by making terrible decision after terrible decision.  Did I really draft Travis Kelce in round 4? Christ.

Whoops. Missed the draft. I think that's the first time in 8 or 9 years.

Yahoo gave me a B. I'm pretty happy with the draft other than QB. Matt Ryan is ok, but he's far from where he was.

I hadn't made last couple of drafts, and DID intend to do this year's JV draft. Somehow got sidetracked and then realized getting home I'd missed it. The auto draft doesn't seem too bad to me, although some of it was questionable and Yahoo ranked it as C-. Adrian Peterson, DeMarco Murray, and Peyton Manning seem like a strong enough team for me. /shrug

My usual auto-draft strategy of letting everyone fight for RBs while I go after WR and QB talent sorta let me down...I got the very first pick, which I fucking hate because it means you have to wait until the end of round two for the next pick.  Kinda messes things up.  On paper it looks okay, but it just feels kinda meh.

Post by: Rasix on August 30, 2015, 10:43:19 PM
I wouldn't draft the team I got on a dare.  Yahoo gave my spectacular autodraft an A-.  This team would lose to the Raiders.

Fucking birthday party.  I had actually planned on showing up to this draft.  Autodrafts are like asking a five year old to make breakfast.

When an autodrafted team gets the best grade, you know the grading system is fucked up. Everyone know drafting two kickers is ridiculous yet everyone who did not do this got dinged by the draft grader.

Anyway, I was a D last year and made the playoffs so the grades are really just entertainment.

They base their grades on their own rankings/projections, so autodrafts are going to have higher grades than they should (because Yahoo's rankings are fucking garbage).

It also devalues rookies and players who were injured last year.  The reason my draft was graded so poorly is because I picked up three WRs with little to no fantasy history thus far.  Davante Adams, Nelson Agholor and Devin Funchess are proabably going to be fantasy-relevant.

I was down 30 in my other league with Matt Ryan and Carlos Hyde. I wasn't sure if I could pull out the win but I ended up crushing him by 20. I'm hoping it's not a fluke and Hyde ends up as a big steal. I certainly wasn't expecting that much out of him.

With Gore gone, Hyde is now the main back in San Fran. They are going to have to run the ball to be successful because Kaep sucks ass.

I picked him up as a 3rd back in the main league and he will probably end up being my #1 on some weeks such as this Sunday (Eddie Lacy has a shitty matchup with the Seahawks D).

So my entire strategy of drafting Dez with my first pick....yeah, that is going to hurt.  My whole roster is a dumpster fire.  It is like a collection of guys with a shitload of upside, but I can't rely on any of them.  Hauschka might be might my best player, and he is one muffed kick from getting shitcanned.

I have Seattle and NE defenses.  I want to play Seattle, but it's GB coming up while NE is vs Buffalo.  Yahoo says NE but Yahoo is stupid.  Thoughts?

First off, if you were capable of shame you would feel it over that terrible pun in your name.

Second I'm playing Seattle. In two games last year they had combined 3 picks, 4 sacks, averaged 19 points against, and won both.

Yes, last year was awesome for Seattle.

The puns are awful in my league, which is named Monica Loves Clinton-Dix.  We also have a Willy Gronka and the TD Factory.

I would probably take NE in that matchup.  Rex tends to play NE pretty tough (while always managing to lose) and I think home team Buffalo plays NE tough usually...but probably in a low scoring affair.  I don't see NE letting Tyrod Taylor put a lot of points on the board.

On the other hand, Seattle is playing in GB.  Their defense is going to be on the field a lot because they know how to contain Wilson, Kam still missing, Rodgers with a huge chip on his shoulder and out for revenge, in Lambeau...not only do I think Seattle is going to lose, I also thing Rodgers will put up 30 or more.

Post by: Paelos on September 17, 2015, 05:33:32 AM
GB can want all the revenge, but they still have to execute without their best WR's, and a running game revolving around a slow fat guy. Seattle has done a great job before at limiting Lacy and making Rodgers have to throw his way out of trouble.

Fake edit: but Jet fumble may have just saved me.

Really regretting drafting Brees. Saints look like a dumpster fire.

Word is he may actually be hurt enough to miss a few starts. As bad as they are with him, they will be holy shit hot garbage without him.

There is a very handy tool in Yahoo to indicate which of your players you are willing to trade and what positions you are looking to trade for.

From the League screen, select Trading Block and it is intuitive from there.

So a quick performance analysis so far after 3 weeks (none of this week's games included here).  The format is actual fantasy pts rank (position draft rank) / team.

QB
1 (2) Rodgers / Shiznitz  [1st QB in pts through week 3, 2nd QB drafted to make the notation clear].
2 (10) Brady / Ex-Pres
3 (21) Dalton / Roosters
4 (18) Palmer / Head Trauma
5 (12) Newton / Grover
6 (---) Taylor / undrafted but Russell picked up
7 (9) Ryan / Roosters

Lots of surprises so far at QB. Roosters is QB rich.

WR
1 (5) Julio Jones / Attack Monkies
2 (30) Fitz / Roosters
3 (1) A Brown / Britches
4 (7) R Cobb / Russell
5 (36) S Smith Sr / Roosters
6 (---) Benjamin / picked up by Kilt Waivers
7 (8) Green / Head Trauma
8 (15) Hopkins / Invalids
9 (18) Edelman / Shiznitz
10 (20) Marshall / Kilt

Roosters and Head Trauma show up again. Kilt Waivers is also happy at WR so far.

RB
1 (1) Charles / Head Trauma
2 (---) Freeman / picked up by Russell
3 (4) AP / Roosters
4 (13) Latavius Murray / Grief
5 (24) Randle / Invalids
6 (18) Hyde / Kilt Waivers
7 (2) Bell / Russell

The same names keep popping up, don't they? No suprise that the names that are repeated in these lists are leading the league. Undrafted stars emerged at each position.

WR
1 (5) Julio Jones / Attack Monkies
2 (30) Fitz / Roosters
3 (1) A Brown / Britches
4 (7) R Cobb / Russell
5 (36) S Smith Sr / Roosters
6 (---) Benjamin / picked up by Kilt Waivers
7 (8) Green / Head Trauma
8 (15) Hopkins / Invalids
9 (18) Edelman / Shiznitz
10 (20) Marshall / Kilt

Roosters and Head Trauma show up again. Kilt Waivers is also happy at WR so far.

I would be if I ever actually felt confident enough in Cleveland's passing game to start Benjamin.

EDIT: My week was fucked by both QB's that I started in each league having down weeks. Fuck you, Rivers, for actually having a great game against a good passing D.

Bowed out of the F13 league, but still fantasy related.

I fucking hate it when people don't even respond to trade offers.  I mean, I know you read my message, I know you checked your team because you put in waivers.  Why can't you take a second to say "nah" and hit Reject trade, you've had nearly 48 hours.

As for not responding immediately, I know sometimes I just don't see the trade offer since it's not really shown in a way that draws my eye towards it and I haven't updated my email yet

Now the JV league on the other hand...that is interesting with a 4-way tie for 5th and 6th place.

Yeah, the main league's positions are already set. Who'd have thought a league where I drafted Peyton Manning AND Philip Rivers would be such a goddamn colossal disappointment. I'll be starting goddamn crab-thief Jameis Winston this week because fuck it, he can't be any worse than Rivers has been most weeks, especially with Rivers matched up against Denver's D.

The JV league is probably set at the top 4, barring a major collapse by me, I'll end up 3rd - I don't think I can make up enough points to get 1st or 2nd.

Despite being cheated twice this season, I won last week by less than a point and am 6-6 with a shot at the playoffs.  Again despite being cheated in some head-to-heads, I grabbed Barnidge early this season, and more recently Theo Riddick.  Last week I started Shaun Draughn after finding him cooling his heels on the wire.  Finally, with most of the Pats ball-carriers being hauled off, I'm hoping that LaFell can finally catch just one fucking football.  However if Brady or Landry are hurt, I'm done.

Despite becoming better at FF, I think I now simply hate NFL football.  Good job, Yahoo.

The bastard at #1 grabbed David Johnson ahead of me, I just noticed.  At least I still have Duke Johnson Jr. :uhrr:

I'm in the playoffs in the Varsity league, take that 1-3 start!

Yup, I don't know what Shiz is thinking but the 6 teams in the main league are already picked. The only thing that can change for the playoffs right now is a mix up in the ranks

Now the JV league on the other hand...that is interesting with a 4-way tie for 5th and 6th place.

Gah I thought there were 8 slots. Too mnay leagues...

First Jamaal Charles, now Mark Ingram?  At least I got a bye for the first week of the playoffs.

Went into SNF with 119.68 points in my other league's playoff. Opponent had 112.80, with Novak left to go. After he kicked 2 FG in the first half I was sure I was done, but Houston kept going for it on 4th down instead of kicking in the second half. I sneaked a peek at the updated scores in the 3rd quarter...and discovered that one of the FGs had been over 40 yards, which awarded him an extra point. I lost by .12 points.

The guy who beat me sent me a text with a pic of his other league...he won that game 105.6 to 105.5. I told him to go buy a Lotto ticket.

Also, fuck the shitsipping Falcons for shitting their pants the past few weeks. Had Ryan and Freeman, and was running good in the early part of the season. Yesterday I had to play the crab-stealing rapist that I picked up off the waiver wire a few weeks ago because I couldn't trust Ryan to do anything. And of course he did almost nothing as well. ARGH. Fuck fantasy football.

Just an abortion of a fantasy season for me in all my leagues.

Injuries screwed me whenever bad drafting choices backed by what I thought we good rationales didn't screw me first.

I've still got hope in one league except I have to rely on Antonio and DeAngelo vs. DEN.

3 QB injuries in the same year fucked me. And I have Dalton in the league I'm in the playoffs.

I'm pretty much only in the playoffs and still alive because of Russell Wilson.

Jesus, my playoff matchup in the JV League has me up against Brady playing fucking TENNESSEE. The goddamn Titans. Oh well, it was a good run.

Edelman might be back too. Good luck.

I seriously doubt he'll be back. They have a good schedule and can't risk injury to anyone.

edit: Well, looks like I've secured 5th place after some later season meltdowns. Still in the runnings for my other leagues though.

OK I'm in the finals in my other league. I have a choice.

Do I play AJ Green or Emmanuel Sanders tonight. Both with backup QBs. I need one or the other to have a big night, as I have to cover 20 points including Denver's kicker.

PPR? It's probably still AJ Green, using the "start your starters" mantra. However, Sanders has more targets and has a stronger upside, I feel.

I'm leaning Sanders right now because AJ did nothing with McCarron as the QB, and the Denver defense is very good. Plus Sanders was the safety blanket for Brock against Pittsburgh. I'm hoping for the same.

The only caveat to that is the size mismatch of Harris versus Green. I'm assuming that will be the matchup.

Can McCarron throw to anybody? I'm assuming Denver may kill him.

Oh but wait, there's more.

Emmanuel Sanders racks up 12.70 points, and my kicker gets 8. That's 20.70 and gave me the win by a point. Granted, if I'd played AJ Green I still would have won, but the margin would have been .08 instead of 1.08

I actually posted that when AJ Green was tearing it up early on in the game. That size mismatch thing I was discussing before.

As your champion, and avatar of the football gods for the current year, my rule will be firm but fair.

Strange season and I think I ended up only playing two players from the draft in the final, though that's partly because Odell Beckham was suspended  :awesome_for_real:.  Lost my first three games, but somewhere after the middle of the season I cobbled together a good team due to Doug Baldwin and David Johnson catching fire.  That and I got lucky.  And had Tom Brady.  Yeah, it was mostly Tom Brady.

I bet a lot of FF champs will have Brady, since most of them drafted before he was reinstated and his owners got him for a song.

I ended up with a combo of Stafford off the wire and Big Ben, AJ Green, David Johnson off the wire, Gronk, Allen Robinson off the wire, Latavius Murry, and Emmanuel Sanders. Plus the Seattle Defense.

My #1 pick Laveon Bell got hurt, and that's why I got David Johnson. Romo was my original QB pick and got hurt. I drafted Andre Johnson in my 6th round and he sucked so hard I had to drop him, and picked up Allen Robinson.
