Title: Mayweather/Pac Bout For Illiteracy 2015
Post by: schild on February 21, 2015, 11:02:02 AM
So, I have the absurd pleasure of having to be in Vegas that weekend with all these motherfucking goony boxing fans.

Question for people that follow boxing: Besides endurance, having seen both of the boxers fight, is there anything less boring than two boxes that seem to be afraid to throw actual punches?

These dudes are boring as fuck to watch.

#bringbackTysonathisprime

Also, should I bet on whoever the underdog is? I don't give a fuck about the fight, but when in Vegas.

Manny will be the underdog by at least 2-1. I wouldn't think he'd win though. This is the kind of thing that seems like it's a decision and leaves everyone pissed off because Floyd always escapes decisions.

At 2:1 I'll bet on the Pinoy assbag any day.

Do people still care about boxing?

Apparently. These dudes are getting a combined $Infinity and the PPV is $100. To watch people move in circles for the max time allowed.

This could be one of two fights, the boring one is if floyd can stay at range and pick his shots and use his footwork to not be in problem and do his standard forearm pushing to annoy the other fighter. The fun one is if Manny can be fast enough and do quick flurries on the inside. Both Cotto and Maidana gave Floyd trouble, and Manny is a better fighter, but I just have the feeling that in 2010 it was anyone's fight and in 2015 Manny lacks the edge in speed that could have truly troubled Floyd.

My heart says pacman, but my brain says Floyd with a dull UD.

The most likely scenario is that both of them test positive for Ensure and Geritol and are DQed. If they actually fight I hope Pac literally kills Mayweather. Fuck him.

Yep, just like Tyson-Holyfield (as a Tyson fan, I would have loved to see that fight in '89-'90)

I may go down to the casino and watch...they don't charge anything, and I can go play poker when it is over.

Generally when boxers start cross promoting themselves with the WWE, its a sign they are at the end of their careers. Mayweather did that in 2008.

I honestly don't think I'd even tune in if it was free on prime time tv.

You can play poker every round up until it goes to decision.

All the people who couldn't order the fight because they cable idiots haven't upgraded their PPV tech since Mike Tyson was still fighting are the big winners.  What a fucking yawnfest.  Which is what Mayweather does when he isn't beating women. He may retire undefeated but you have to actually fight to be considered the greatest fighter of all time.

I'm sure his 100s of millions of dollars will help him sleep at night even if no one thinks he is the greatest boxer.

Also - why the hell does anyone still care about boxing?  It was like for one day we were transported back in time and it was the top story everywhere for a couple days.  I haven't seen anyone give two shits about boxing in most of my adult life.

Once a white European guy held the heavyweight titles, no one in America gave a shit about the sport anymore.  :why_so_serious:

I read an interesting article the other day linked on ESPN on why boxing is basically dead in America. It talked a lot about the history of it in the U.S.

Let's just say that the reasons are numerous.

I was sort of wondering this too; I had friends and coworkers who were incredibly excited for this fight, despite never having watched boxing ever. I just assumed they were falling victim to hype.

I watched a lot of boxing in the last 15 years, and its a great sport. I feel sorry for the people that paid $100 to watch this ppv, and don't know that the fight between canelo alvarez and james kirkland that happens next weekend will produce a better fight.

I used to watch a lot of boxing on friday nights on Eurosport as the commentators were very good at explaining who the boxers were and their record and they talked about it in a manner of fact way while explaining and enjoying what was going on.

It was after i joined a boxing torrent site that I got into the sports for real, before that it was mostly just fighters like Mike Tyson and Naseem Hamed. PM me if you are interested in an invite.
