Title: Terra Battle
Post by: Druzil on November 13, 2014, 05:46:51 PM
Newish mobile game by Hironobu Sakaguchi (the Final Fantasy guy) and with music by Nobuo Uematsu.  It a turn based game that plays a little bit like a mix between a puzzle strategy game and a tactics rpg (the team building part more than the battle).  You field a team of characters and slide them around on the board to flank enemies which kicks off attacks.  Each unit has a weapon type which is a rock/paper/scissors type deal.  I haven't played enough of it yet to really do a review but I like the visual and the music quite a bit and so far the game play has kept me entertained.

Free on iOS, not sure about android.  Worth checking out!

Been playing around with it quite a bit in the past week or so, and it's pretty fun. So far I've never felt like the game has been pushing me to spend money. You can play for a good amount before exhausting all your energy, and it replenishes quickly as well. They introduce new enemies that have different styles of attack pretty frequently which helps keep the combat fresh, and it also got a little more deep for me once I started figuring out how to use my move each turn to bump other members of my team into positions where I could attack multiple times or get in an attack on a long line of enemies on the first turn.

Yep, it's a little bit like puzzles and dragons in that regard.  It gets more interesting once you learn to use your turn to manipulate multiple pieces.  In fact now I realize that quite a few systems here are really just rehashes on PnD.  Still, I'm really enjoying it and I also have not felt the need to spend money yet.

This doesn't seem to play well with spotty connections. Our wifi at work is shitty, and the game hung up on me entirely at Connecting several times (waited for 5m+, had to hard close the app). Other than that it seems cool, but inability to play at work is kind of a deal breaker.

Just started playing this and so far, so good. I read that some people reroll until they get a good first hero (SS) with their energy, but I no longer have the patience for that level of min-maxing. Agreed on the required wifi though..

Other than that it seems cool, but inability to play while taking way too long in the bathroom stall at work is kind of a deal breaker.

FTFY  :drill:

I haven't had any issues on LTE, although I have a pretty good signal.

My party right now is 4 B-class and 2 C-class, haven't seen anything better than that yet.

I haven't had problems on 4G either, just our work's awful DSL wifi.
